DREAMTROVE

I want to get down to serious issues that effect us:
Anyone else into Sarah Connor Chronicles?
Fox is pairing it with the upcoming Dollhouse, and so I've been watching back episodes on hulu.com

I like it. Not too humorous, and not perfect, but Summer makes an awesome terminator, and like rupert murdoch, I just love watching girls throw people through walls.

Small nitpicks, sure, but those can wait. First, a call out to any fellow killer robot groupies...

RUE

I have a vote and I'm not afraid to use it!

I thought it started out kinda' slow ... now it seems to be coming into its own.

But count me out as a groupie !

Huh.
I thought just the reverse. I loved season one. Season two I think is weak at points.

Main assets: River, er. Summer, as an evil cyborg
Sarah, herself, who is quite good.

Liabilities:
John. I'm not convinced that he couldn't pull it off, but he's not doing it, there's nothing about this guy that says "I'm going to save the world."

All of these villains are going to destroy the world because of some unique ability. John needs one, and some character quirks. Someone please kill his gf. Sorry. But if this turns into another neo messiah by fate plotlines then please, shoot me now.

The character of Cameron is so interesting I'd want to write for the show, just to help. I think a totally amoral pragmatic character of unknown motive, well, it's my opiate. That and some scandavian heavy metal. Another fetish of mine recently.

Derek has potential, but like the show lacks humor, and it's too mission focused. I want him to be more like Jayne Cobb, only maybe less of a figure of fun. His gf is annoying.

Shirley Manson, who I'm a big fan of as a musician, is adding nothing to the show. Either make this work or lose it guys.

Officer Ellison has outlived his usefulness. In season one he was an excellent viewpoint for the normals to see the world for the first time. Now he's become the tag along Xander kid who wants to play with the big boys, but is just waiting to have his ass kicked. I think Cameron should torture him just because that would be sick and twisted. And, afterall, killing him would be de trop, like swatting a fly.

Cromartie is boring me to tears. Can we please have a villain who is a little more menacing than Adam from B. Season 4? I mean seriously. Here's a better idea: Tag team terminators.

Or, worse, humans working for the terminator side.

I mean, come on, with time travel tech and a future that sucks, humanity is corrupt. I'm sure someone would sell out the future of humanity in exchange for being king of medieval france.

I'm hoping for Cameron to be not a reprogrammed terminator, but a rogue terminator who came to the logical conclusion that either "war with humans ends is machines losing" or more interestingly "humans are essential to making contributions, because of their irrational random input." It's even better if the reason here is not just that "this leads to more efficient innovation" but if "this makes existance more interesting."

I'm thinking Pris Stratton, from both the movie and the book.

ANTHONYT

Freedom is Important because People are Important

Hello,

Thought I'd chime in a bit.

The show has flirted with 'turncoat humans' on a few occasions, with a recent episode even focusing on a captured human who was working for the machines. Almost the entire episode focused on his interrogation.

In addition, it's been hinted several times that John's Uncle has been mind-f*cked by the machines, to what end we can't be sure.

And of course now we have the girlfriends (the Uncle's girlfriend and John's girlfriend) who turn out to be agents from the future... with an uncertain agenda.

There was a suggestion at some point that some of the machines from the future are even from a different machine faction! Perhaps one that wishes to work with humans rather than destroy them. The possibility even exists that the liquid terminator woman is working not on Skynet, but on a competing AI which is supposed to be more refined and/or human.

Cameron, the Summer Glau terminator, was damaged at the beginning of the season, and it's not entirely clear that she is still functioning within programming. Her model has always been capable of unnusual tricks (eating, for instance) and I'm not entirely sure what her relationship to future John Connor is.

The show has a dozen plot threads hanging out there, and occasionally they add to one. With only one episode left this season, it seems likely that most of these threads are going to be left unresolved. Still, I'm willing to give the show another season to see where it goes. They have my interest.

I'd like it better if they would kill of Sarah, John, and the rest of the (human) main characters.

It would be so much better as a half-hour sitcom about a would-be killer robot trapped in the body of a hot young girl and struggling to make it in this crazy world with her group of quirky sidekicks. They could set it in New York and call it Terminator, The Friends Chronicles.

My favorite episode will be 'The One Where She Kills the Pizza Man':
"Cameron, you killed him."
"He knew where we lived...he was a threat."
"Oh Cameron..." (cue laugh track)

Anthony,

That was a pretty good rundown of the major plot twists, you're supposed to put spoiler warnings on stuff like that.

It goes like this: Spoiler

Select to view spoiler:

I think Cameron should boink John, that's would be pretty messed up.

I think they'll do okay, Summer already had plans to make the character go haywire, they just figured that into the plot as a way to do it.

Hero,

You made a joke!

JEWELSTAITEFAN,

Because I put it there, that's why.

Honestly, the group here is small and manageable, rather than chaos, and anything involving the show, its producers, actors, characters, etc. has always been fair game. The link here is two fold:
1. Summer Glau is the terminator.
2. The show is going to be coupled with Joss Whedon's new contemporary sci-fi Dollhouse.

Personally, I think cross-over episodes could be fun.
