Wow... this seems downright horrifying, and back to a previous post about how much internal hell people are going through when hurting yourself is a relife... I have... an idea, a very very good first hand idea, about what that was like... I used to SI (self inflict) I was a cutter, burner, whatever-I-could-do-to-cause-pain type... I don't know what caused it, I had therapy for it, they didn't really know what caused it, but I can say that I am doing better now, and hopefully I'll stay bright, happy and fairly content for the rest of my life...

Yeah Six, I've hit on this issue a time or two before, and like I said, ya really do not ever wanna know - just spent(wasted, more like) a bit of time out east, knockin my head against part of the state of MD's "educational" system... just lookin at it makes me wanna puke, the educational curriculum is built around two things and two things only, firstly, getting them to pass federal standardised tests to get them tax bucks, and indoctrinating them to tolerate a very high degree of surveillance, privacy invasion, and totalarianist type control - not one whit of education in there, but damn it's long on obediance, and it's only gotten worse for that prison camp they call a school.

The really sick, twisted irony is that my nieces (who thanks to all the gods they do NOT know are related to me!!!) are going to the same exact school that evicted me after the whole dress code incident - but I note rather proudly they STILL have only the dress code we students approved in the end, and not the draconian, sexist, idiotic one they wanted.

The place must be hell to attend though, 165 cameras, jackboot "police" with nasty K-9 helpers (MD has a history of using K9's abusively, mind) and the kids frightened and fearful not of each other, crime or drugs, but the administration and it's ability and willingness to abuse them, force them onto ritalin or deny them an education, such as it is with said curriculum.

Public school is next best thing to hell these days, it seems, and to know there's worse out there makes one question any faith in humanity at all...

For my part, I gave the kiddos a copy of Harry Harrisons Stainless Steel Rat series, and a whole bunch of interesting ideas about things like tolerance, freedom, and most especially, something no longer any part of their social studies curriculum - The US Constitution.

We'll see how that develops.
