Hello,

It seems the Turanor solar-powered yacht completed its journey around the world this month. It used only solar power in its circumnavigation of the globe. I hope that other ships can follow the example, perhaps supplementing solar power with wind power (which is really just another form of solar power.) I'd love to see massive container ships chugging across the oceans with not a drop of fuel spent.

Hello,

I wanted to add that a combination of wind and solar power is better than either, because where wind is weak solar is strong, and vice-versa.

The Doldrums are near the equator, where wind tends to die down a bit.

But of course near the equator, sun power is at its best. We are fast approaching the technology we'll need to just paint an entire ship in nanotech solar collectors. Add some wind turbines and we should have no further need for combustion engines and their fuel- no matter the lattitude.

Railroads - fer cryin out loud, LOOK at all those roofs which could be equipped with solar panels, and the connectors jumped right into with the regular attachments.

Speaking of solar powered trains... I hope they build this or something like it.

ETA: A train like this running between Phoenix and Las Vegas would be awesome. The fact that it generates excess energy to feed local communities is also ideal.
