One more thing CTS... I agree with you that a big solar event like 1859 really would make life difficult for the approximately 20% of the globe directly impacted. But I question your personal efforts to Faraday-shield a small room in your house. What is the purpose? Do you really think its going to do any good to Faraday-shield your PCs etc if there's no "there" there to hook up to? Unless you can also shield your solar panels, your well-pump (those motor-windings make great antenna!) your frig/freezer motor, and your furnace-fan motor and live COMPLETELY off the grid... and I mean COMPLETELY, for about the three-five years it would take to replace the big generating turbine windings and huge transformers... it won't do much good.

It helped my son's health. We slept in it to give him 8-10 hours everyday free from EMF stress.

If I have a working PC, all I need is a generator. A PC does serve many useful purposes outside of the internet, esp if there are very few functional PC's around.
