Maybe they don’t want four years of vengeance and retribution. Maybe they don’t want to hand Ukraine to a war criminal. Maybe they’re tired of being asked to believe he won by a landslide when they know he lost, or that he’s a stable genius when his own Vice President, cabinet secretaries, and chiefs of staff say he’s truly dangerous and incompetent.

Maybe they’re shocked he blocked the resources and legal fixes needed to solve the border crisis. He wants the crisis. He sees it as his ticket back to power. Power this time closer to the kind his friends Putin, Orban, and Kim Jong Un wield. Rule by fear.

Maybe they don’t see him as a good role model for their kids. Maybe they’re tired of being asked to buy Bibles and sneakers to pay his legal bills. (One judge found him guilty of rape, another of fraud, even as he fights multiple criminal indictments. Does anyone doubt he lied to the FBI about the documents he claimed not to have? Even for ex-presidents, lying to the FBI is a crime.)

Maybe, at least for some, the “show” is getting old.

Overturning Roe v Wade turned the Republican Party into the proverbial dog that caught the car. It’s suddenly relevant that a majority of House Republicans have backed a bill declaring that “life begins at conception” and that any fertilized embryo has the full rights of a legal person under the 14th Amendment. I’m not sure even die-hard anti-abortion people have fully thought through the implications for miscarriages. If a person drops dead in your house, the police and the coroner are going to have some questions about what happened — a person dying is a serious thing. And I think the idea of investigating miscarriages as potential homicides sends a chill down the spine of any halfway rational person.

Thus far, access to abortion overall has held up okay post-Dobbs, but that very well might not continue if Trump wins.

One big risk is that the judicial branch is likely to become extremely right-wing. You see right now a divide between the bulk of Republican Party elected officials, who are pushing fetal personhood, and the ones who actually need to run in tough races, who are desperate not to talk about this. You have to assume that many if not most of the judges Republicans put on the bench have the rough policy views of safe seat members rather than the cautious views of those in swing districts. And the whole point of the federal judiciary in the United States is that judges are insulated from electoral accountability and free to hand down whatever kind of nutty rulings they want.

The aim of personhood legislation is to establish the constitutional rights of embryos, but you don’t need a bill for that. You just need some judges to go along with you.

Right now, the Supreme Court is hearing a lawsuit that aims to yank mifepristone’s FDA approval. It seems like the current set of justices is disinclined to do that. But there are lots of courts in the country and there may be lots of vacancies. And, of course, a new administration will directly control the FDA and other federal agencies. Thus far, nobody has managed to conduct an actual interview with Trump in which they ask him about this stuff. But the risks if Trump wins are very real and very large, and he stands a very good chance of winning, notwithstanding the progressive turn on abortion public opinion.

Opinion: Is a Biden comeback quietly underway?

Unless you are deeply immersed in politics, you likely missed a major development over the last three weeks: Since his State of the Union speech, President Joe Biden has seen a marked reversal of his fortunes.

Indeed, since Biden addressed the nation in early March, polling shows that Biden is gaining ground, as former President Donald Trump now leads Biden by only one percentage point according to the RealClearPolitics polling average — Trump’s smallest lead since January.

In the Quinnipiac poll released last week, Biden led by three points, 48 percent to 45 percent, bringing the total to 12 national polls showing Biden leading Trump since the SOTU, as Jessica Tarlov noted last week.

Moreover, Biden’s bounce is being seen not only in national polls but also in the battleground states that will determine the winner. In Wisconsin, Biden now leads Trump (46 percent to 45 percent), a 5-point swing in Biden’s favor since February, per the latest Bloomberg/Morning Consult Swing State Tracking poll.
In Pennsylvania Biden erased what was a 6-point lead for Trump in February, and the state is now tied at 45 percent apiece, according to the same poll.

And in Michigan — a state that has been at the center of Democratic angst due to Biden’s support for Israel and the state’s large Arab population — Trump’s 2-point lead in February is now a tie (45 percent each) per Bloomberg/Morning Consult.

They're happy to mention the polling aggregate now because general election polling has seen a slight tick of 1% in Biden*'s favor, yet when they mention statewide polling it's back to cherry picking two separate polls for two different points they wanted to make with cherrypicked data.

Trump is still up on Biden* in every swing state, and he hasn't even bothered campaigning yet.

Nobody but a fool would buy this stock. Trumptards are crazy:

https://www.washingtonpost.com/technology/2024/04/01/truth-social-trum
p-media-results
/

Former president Donald Trump’s social media company said Monday it lost more than $58 million last year, sending its stock plunging more than 21 percent only days after a highflying public debut set the company’s value at more than $8 billion.

Trump Media and Technology Group, which owns Truth Social, said in a Securities and Exchange Commission filing that the company generated just over $4 million in revenue last year, including less than $1 million in the last quarter.

The nosediving share price of the company — which uses the stock ticker DJT, for Trump’s initials — fell to its lowest level since Trump Media went public last week and shaved more than a fifth of its market value in a single day. It also slashed the value of Trump’s 57 percent ownership in the company by roughly $1 billion, to $3.8 billion.

The new financial figures throw into stark relief the gap between Trump Media’s highly hyped investor-driven valuation on the public stock market and the reality of its business performance.
Trump Media & Technology Group Corp

MAX

Trump could use the company as a financial lifeline. Trump cannot sell his shares or use them as collateral for a loan for six months because of a provision in the company’s merger agreement, known as a lockup.

The company’s board could vote to waive that requirement but has yet to do so, the filings state. Cashing out early could sink the stock price further by flooding the market with shares and undermining investor confidence in Trump’s commitment to the brand, financial analysts said.

Trump, who invested no money in Trump Media, was given 78 million shares of the company last week and stands to earn tens of millions more over the next three years if the stock stays above $12 to $17, a filing shows.

Trump Media said in a filing that it expects to incur more “operating losses and negative cash flows” as it works to expand its user base but that it expects its growth will come from Truth Social’s “overall appeal.”

The company said in a filing that its management had “substantial doubt” as of the end of last year that it would have enough money to pay its debts as they come due. The company paid nearly $40 million in interest expenses last year and racked up about $16 million in operating losses.

Trump’s company unlocked nearly $300 million in investor funds last week when it finalized a merger deal with Digital World Acquisition, a special purpose acquisition company that helped take Trump Media public.

Trump Media said in a filing that it aimed to spend some of that money toward “strategic investments” in marketing, advertising sales and other technology. About $18 million of it was also paid toward an SEC settlement announced last year.

The company has declined to share performance indicators like those common across the tech industry, such as its number of active users, and said it may continue to withhold such figures. Focusing on those numbers, the company said, “might not align with the best interests” of Trump Media or its shareholders.

Trump Media’s wild booms and busts over the last week have driven some observers to regard it as a “meme stock,” whose value is derived less from its fundamentals and more from investors’ personal feelings about its namesake brand.

That separation of stock value from the company’s ability to make money could hurt it in the long run, said Jay Ritter, a University of Florida finance professor who predicted the share price would continue to decline.

“The stock will almost certainly remain extremely volatile, with both some big upswings and downswings on a daily basis,” he said. But “the long-term trend will be down.”

Trump Media, which makes money through advertising on Truth Social, has struggled to gain a broad audience after two years of operation, according to estimates from the online analytics firm SimilarWeb. On the company’s first day of public trading last week, Truth Social’s website saw its highest-traffic day of the month, with roughly 277,000 U.S. visitors, the estimates show.

That is a small fraction of most online platforms: On that same day, the discussion-board service Reddit saw more than 32 million U.S. visitors, the estimates show. Reddit, which went public a few days before Trump Media and is trading at a similar stock price, generated $800 million in revenue last year, or more than 200 times Trump Media’s 2023 revenue.

Trump’s company said it has begun testing a “state-of-the-art technology that supports video streaming and provides a ‘home’ for canceled content creators,” which it “aims to acquire and incorporate into its product offerings and/or services as soon as practicable.” The company did not respond to a request for comment seeking further details.

The Trump Media board includes Trump’s son Donald Trump Jr.; Robert E. Lighthizer, Trump’s former trade representative; Linda McMahon, his former administrator of the Small Business Administration; and Kash Patel, who served on Trump’s National Security Council and was paid $130,000 by Trump Media last year through a consulting agreement.

Trump Media’s chief executive, the former Republican congressman Devin Nunes, was given 115,000 shares, a stake worth more than $5 million today. He and other board members are bound by the same lockup agreement.

Nunes is paid a $750,000 salary that is subject to increase to $1 million within two years, filings show. The company chief financial officer, Phillip Juhan, and chief operating officer, Andrew Northwall, are each paid about $350,000. Nunes, Juhan and Northwall will also each receive $600,000 “retention bonuses” this month.

Dan Scavino Jr., Trump’s White House social media director and an adviser to his 2024 presidential campaign, was also paid $240,000 last year through a consulting agreement that listed him as an independent contractor, a filing shows. He, too, will be given a $600,000 retention bonus.

Trump himself could receive 36 million more shares in the coming weeks as long as the stock price stays above $17.50 for “20 out of any 30 trading days,” according to a company “earnout” provision.

The company’s filings Monday note that five lawsuits have been filed in recent weeks involving Trump Media, Digital World, Trump Media’s co-founders Andy Litinsky and Wes Moss, and Digital World’s former chief Patrick Orlando.

Digital World dropped one lawsuit last week after its biggest founding investor — Arc Global Investments II, which is managed by Orlando — voted in favor of the merger. But the other cases are still active, and they include claims from Litinsky, Moss and Orlando that the company had worked to improperly dilute their shares.

Trump Media said in a Monday filing that one ongoing lawsuit, jointly filed by Trump Media and Digital World against Orlando and Arc, could prove “costly and time consuming” and have an adverse effect on Trump Media’s reputation.

In the newest lawsuit, filed last week in a Florida circuit court, Trump Media alleged that Moss and Litinsky had mismanaged the company but that Truth Social had since become “among the fastest growing social media platforms in history.”

POSTSCRIPT: All the folks behind Truth Social's public offering knew weeks ago that their latest results were lousy. But they carefully chose to complete the offering a few days before they had to tell anyone in April, the beginning of the 2nd quarter. Whether that's clever or illegal is something for the SEC to decide, I suppose.

Will MAGA Republicans Block Baltimore’s Rebuilding?

Soon after a huge container ship struck Baltimore’s Francis Scott Key Bridge, bringing it down, President Biden pledged that the federal government would “pay the entire cost of reconstructing” the bridge. This would clearly be the right thing to do, not just to help the state of Maryland but also to limit the economic damage from a disaster that has blocked both a major road artery and a major port. Among other things, the Port of Baltimore plays a key role in both exports of coal and trade in farm and construction equipment, so the bridge disaster will have direct adverse effects on the heartland as well as the East Coast.

And if America were still the same country that enacted the Federal-Aid Highway Act of 1956 — passed with overwhelming bipartisan support in Congress and signed into law by a Republican president — which gave rise to our Interstate System, there would be little question that Congress would approve funding soon after it returns from Easter recess.

But we aren’t that country anymore. Biden will probably be able to get funds for rebuilding, but it’s by no means a sure thing.

The rise of MAGA Republicans is only part of the problem. I’ve seen several people citing the response to the 2007 collapse of the Interstate 35W bridge in Minnesota as an example of what things were like in a better political era. Indeed, within days, Congress voted unanimously to provide $250 million in aid.

But that was a one-off. The Minnesota bridge collapse highlighted the decaying state of America’s infrastructure, and one might have expected the disaster to lead to real action, but it didn’t. President Barack Obama pleaded with Congress to approve broad increases in infrastructure spending and was able to sign a highway funding bill in 2015, but for the most part he was stymied by G.O.P. opposition. As president, Donald Trump repeatedly promised to revamp America’s infrastructure — “it’s infrastructure week” became a running joke — but never delivered.

Major action on infrastructure didn’t happen until late 2021 with the enactment of the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law — which, despite the name, received only 13 Republican votes in the House. And that was with Democrats in full control of Congress. It’s not foolish to worry that MAGA hard-liners will block aid to Maryland in much the same way that they’ve blocked aid to Ukraine.

The Low-Key Republican Officials Quietly Dismantling All of Our Rights

By Dahlia Lithwick | April 01, 2024, 11:30 AM

https://slate.com/news-and-politics/2024/04/raga-republican-officials-
leonard-leo-supreme-court-mess.html

One of the greatest destabilizers of democracy that almost nobody knows about is a little tax-exempt group called RAGA, which stands for the Republican Attorneys General Association. It represents more than half the states’ chief legal officers, and its members are on the front lines of pretty much every single important legal movement in the country. Its moves and funding are directed, of course, by everyone’s favorite little Monopoly Man Money Guy, Leonard Leo. Yet the group receives almost no sustained public attention or accountability. Recently, Heidi Przybyla at Politico reported on how RAGA tried to run a D.C. official who had dared investigate Leo out of office. And once you actually train your focus on RAGA, they tend to pop up everywhere, over and over again. The group was behind amicus briefs in the outrageous social media case Murthy v. Missouri. They are driving the efforts to get around federal emergency treatment laws for abortion in the forthcoming EMTALA cases. They’re pushing for Texas-style S.B. 4 legislation in several states. And that doesn’t even get you to the whole raft of RAGA interventions when it came to trying to overturn the results of the 2020 election.

On this week’s Amicus podcast, Dahlia Lithwick spoke with Lisa Graves, founder and executive director of True North Research, to try to shine a light on an obscure group that works hand in glove with Leo and dark-money interests to stymie democracy and roll back environmental protections, civil rights, reproductive rights, and other freedoms for the very citizens they are elected to serve.

Former President Donald Trump raged against Sen. Bill Cassidy on Monday, calling the Louisiana Republican “one of the worst senators in the United States Senate.”

Trump who endorsed Cassidy in his 2020 re-election campaign, fumed over the senator’s 2021 vote to convict him at his impeachment trial for his role in the Jan. 6 riot at the Capitol Building.

“A TOTAL FLAKE, Republican though he may be,” the presumptive GOP nominee for president wrote on Truth Social.

Cassidy was one of seven Senate Republicans who voted to convict Trump of inciting an insurrection.

“Cassidy is a total ‘stiff,’ but Louisiana didn’t need him to protect them, because they had ME, 100%!” Trump wrote. “Nevertheless, when the Democrats’ Impeachment Hoax started, this Lamebrain Senator actually voted against me.”

The former president noted that he’s “been too busy beating up the Communists, Fascists, and Lunatics who have weaponized our Government against Crooked Joe Biden’s Political Opponent, ME, to think much” about Cassidy.

Cassidy is one of 15 GOP senators who have yet to endorse Trump for president in 2024.

Concern has been raised over iHeartMedia, the broadcaster of the Verdict With Ted Cruz podcast, paying $630,850 to the Truth and Courage PAC which supports the Texas Senator.

Data from the Federal Election Commission shows iHeartMedia has donated a total of $630,850 to Truth and Courage PAC since March 2023, constituting around a third of its revenue since the beginning of that year. Critics are calling on Senate and federal election authorities to investigate this as a possible ethics violation while Cruz's team has said he has done nothing wrong.

In 2022, iHeartMedia acquired Verdict With Ted Cruz, a podcast the Texas Republican launched in 2020 to discuss Trump's first impeachment. Cruz's team has said he isn't paid by iHeartMedia for hosting duties. Because iHeartMedia employs lobbyists, it would be impermissible under Senate rules for Cruz to accept gifts except of "nominal value" from the company, especially given his position on the Senate Commerce Committee.

Trumptards already decided Trump is not a crook and the law has not even got Trump to trial. Cruz hasn't even been charged. The election will be long over before a prosecutor decides whether Cruz is crooked enough to be charged with a crime. Since Cruz has not been convicted, there is no reason not to vote for him.

Trump on Easter Sunday fired off dozens of angry messages during a lengthy holiday rant on Truth Social. By Monday, Truth Social’s stock was in free fall after an SEC filing indicated a dire financial situation.

“On revenues of just $4 million, Truth Social lost $58 million,” Colbert said. “How could that be? They had such a solid business model: Old rapist yells at Easter.”

The notoriously thin-skinned Trump has thrown tantrums at late-night comics for joking about him but Colbert’s crack hits two areas he’s especially sensitive about: his money and his legal battles.

Trump is known to get especially angry when anyone implies he’s not as rich or successful as he’s claimed. He’s also currently suing ABC and host George Stephanopoulos for saying he was found “liable for rape” in the E. Jean Carroll defamation case.

The jury actually found him liable for sexual abuse, not rape. However, the judge has called the term “substantially true under common modern parlance,” just not in the narrower legal definition in New York.

"What is wrong with having a mentally ill rapist tax cheater as President? Nothing! He's me, only more famous!" - direct quote from every Trumptard.

The former Trump aides who would rather not see him on the ballot

By Mariana Alfaro | April 2, 2024 at 5:30 a.m. EDT

Several former members of his administration have said they will not vote for the presumptive Republican presidential nominee in November.
Former vice president Mike Pence
Former defense secretary Mark T. Esper
Former White House aide Cassidy Hutchinson
Former White House press secretary Stephanie Grisham
Former deputy White House press secretary Sarah Matthews
Former White House counsel Ty Cobb
Former White House communications director Alyssa Farah Griffin
Former national security adviser John Bolton
Former White House chief of staff Mick Mulvaney
Former attorney general William P. Barr
Former White House chief of staff John F. Kelly

Former vice president Mike Pence told Fox News in March that he would not endorse Donald Trump. Just days after Trump won enough delegates to secure the GOP nomination, his former vice president — in a remarkable break with tradition — said he would not endorse him.

“Donald Trump is pursuing and articulating an agenda that is at odds with the conservative agenda that we governed on during our four years, and that is why I cannot in good conscience endorse Donald Trump in this campaign,” Pence told Fox News host Martha MacCallum last month.

After a dutiful four years serving as Trump’s No. 2, Pence split with Trump following the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the U.S. Capitol in which Pence was targeted by the mob of pro-Trump supporters who chanted “Hang Mike Pence.”

Trumpism in the United States since 2017 makes anyone who is paying attention rightfully alarmed at the future of democratic institutions in the US. Trump's attacks on the Federal courts, his efforts to remove or stifle internal government accountability processes, his explicit politics of division and white supremacy, his demonization of the press, his open admiration of autocrats in other parts of the world, and his celebration of the use of police violence and military force against peaceful protesters make the security of the institutions of liberal democracy increasingly at risk.

Most fundamentally Trump has worked systematically to undermine respect, adherence, and confidence with regard to the institutions of government, and has consistently cultivated his "base" of extremist supporters through a rhetoric of anti-government slogans and racist antagonism. The gun-toting demonstrators against governors who had established sensible policies of social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic are the most recent example, and their Boogaloo networks of violent partisans deepen the threat. And only a tiny number of legislators from the president's party are willing to express their opposition to the key Trump messages.

There seems to be a significant percentage of the American citizenry that rejects the "political and overlapping consensus" that Rawls postulates. The postulate of the moral and political equality of all people is inconsistent with the racism and white supremacy that Trump has encouraged, and many of his followers are receptive to these values. And yet the worldview of white supremacy is completely incompatible with democracy. Further, the appeal of the language of division and hate finds a ready audience with many of his supporters; so extremist organizations are able to build support through racist appeals. It is difficult to see how to build a democratic consensus that incorporates the 30-40% of voters who support the right-wing extremist agenda.

I got plenty of legitimate gripes with Joe Biden*. You don't see me posting about him 4 times in one thread in a few hours every day though.

I see you're just as shitty a person as ever today. Have fun being angry at the world another day because you don't fit anywhere into it and you make no conscious effort to try.

Every Trumptard I know puts forward that same argument. It is not believable because the Trumptards I know are completely to blame for their fucked-up lives, not the federal government, not Biden. 6ix, accept the truth: Trump is crazy and you and your family are born losers. Get a job, get an education, quite laying around the house working on wood trim, tell your 400-pound brother to lose weight, and fix up your fucked-up lives. No government can fix what is wrong. Fix yourself and STOP BLAMING EVERYBODY BUT YOURSELF for what happened to you.

Judge shopping ban lasted three weeks. Now it’s gone because Trumptards were too lazy and stupid to understand what is wrong with Judge shopping and the Democrats, lacking spine and wishing to be polite to goddamn retards, did not knock down the Trumptards and kick them in the head to help them understand.

Three weeks ago the Judicial Conference of the United States cracked down on the practice, but then they caved:

Following blowback from Senate Republicans and some conservative judges, judicial policymakers later clarified that the policy was discretionary, leaving it to each district court to decide how to implement it.

Discretionary. Hmmm. The Northern District of Texas is the most infamous destination for judge shoppers, so what are they going to do?

A federal court in Texas that has become a favored destination for conservatives suing to block President Joe Biden's agenda has decided not to follow a policy adopted by the judiciary's top policymaking body that aims to curtail the practice of "judge shopping."

Chief U.S. District Judge David Godbey of the Northern District of Texas announced the decision in a Friday letter.... In his letter, Godbey, an appointee of Republican former President George W. Bush, said the judges in his district met on Wednesday. "The consensus was not to make any change to our case assignment process at this time," he said.

So there you have it. In less than three weeks, Republicans were able to effectively destroy a years-long effort to solve a widely recognized problem. It's sort of remarkable. Even among conservatives there's no real justification for judge shopping and they don't even bother to offer one. They just want the outcome they want and that's that.

6ix, you are a fucking failure but you are not alone. So is Trump. He could have parked his billion-dollar inheritance at Berkshire Hathaway and would have $500 billion today. April 4, 1984, the price was $1,225 per share of BRK.A stock. Today it is $630,289 per share. All the business magazines were touting Warren Buffett and his company back in 1984. Trump could have invested, but no, he didn't. There is no mystery about how Buffett got rich since he published a yearly letter about how his company works. And there is no mystery about Trump cheating everybody he comes in contact with. There are books from 20 years ago about what a cheating, lying douche-bag Trump has always been.

The truth about the Biden economy
It's best not to exaggerate in either direction

By Matthew Yglesias | Apr 02, 2024

https://www.slowboring.com/p/the-truth-about-the-biden-economy

The American economy is in remarkably good shape, given the scale of the global economic disruptions during the Covid-19 pandemic and its aftermath.

That’s not just spin. If you compare the American economy to that of other rich countries, and you can see we are doing a lot better.

You can also compare the American economy in 2024 to the forecasts issued by the Congressional Budget Office in January of 2020. https://www.cbo.gov/publication/56020#section1 Real GDP — that’s with the inflation adjustment — is higher than they thought it would be. The biggest reason for that is that immigration has been higher than the CBO expected. But have those immigrants’ jobs come at the expense of Americans’ jobs? No. Before the pandemic, the CBO thought we would have a 4.4 percent unemployment rate this year and a 4.2 percent rate last year, and the actual numbers have been lower than that. They thought the prime-age labor force participation rate couldn’t break the 83 percent mark, but it has.

On the flip side, obviously inflation was greater than the CBO expected, and while inflation is now contained, that’s in part because interest rates are also higher than they thought they would be.

I think this is a good record, all things considered, because the pandemic did actually happen — production of certain things shut down for a while, patterns of consumption shifted around wildly, and all things considered you can’t address a problem like that at zero cost. And I’m glad that consumer sentiment popped a lot last week; it means the reality of the post-inflation economy is setting in. Last month, I scolded Debbie Downer Progressives who believe touting a glass half empty view of the economy will serve progressive causes, and I stand by that. But now that the mass public’s views are looking up, I do want to pull a slight hypocrisy and punch in the other direction.

When you do political messaging, you are trying to persuade swing voters, but in practice, your messages mostly persuade your own base. That’s just the way it works. So I think that as Democrats have talked up the Biden economy, they’ve talked their own elites into an excessively rosy picture of the situation.

That in turn is creating two distortions, one substantive and one political:

• The substantive distortion is the overstated idea that Biden has forged some glorious new path in which we have shed the dogmas of neoliberal economics and will march forward into a brave new future of industrial policy.

• The political distortion is the belief that if Biden loses, that loss will be totally unrelated to his objective domestic policy performance, and all of the lessons learned should be lessons about either the power of misinformation or else the perils of splitting your base over Israel.

The truth about the Biden economy is that it’s in remarkably good shape, given all that happened. But that’s not the same as saying that we are living through an unprecedented boom that the electorate is mysteriously failing to reward. Voters’ nostalgia for the economic conditions of the pre-pandemic era is perfectly reasonable.

The unreasonable part is believing that Donald Trump’s policies will bring it back.
The economy is fine

Something as complicated as “the economy” is hard to summarize, but if I had to pick one chart to summarize the recent economic evolution of the United States, I would take this one from Jason Furman that shows per person inflation-adjusted personal income. https://twitter.com/jasonfurman/status/1773724514071007355

28.33 more years. That's the life expectancy of a 50-year-old white American male. 6ix, you will fall many years short of that because you are hopeless and not particularly lucky.

I have found that average Trumptards are hopeless cases who need/crave a strong leader to reassure them that they have not messed up their own lives. It is the Democrats' fault, not the Trumptard's, for a Trumptard's woes. 6ix, please don't stop smoking because you are special and tobacco doesn't cause cancer for the best people like you. I keep track of dead Trumptards. They are killing themselves early with bullets, drugs, tobacco, alcohol, obesity (that's a favorite way to kill themselves called "digging their own graves with their teeth") or just run-of-the-mill stupidity. Uniformly the Trumptards I know agree with Trump because they sense without comprehending why they die early.

Trump: Just kill the Palestinians and get it over with

Trump spoke this morning about the war. Here's what he said:

You’ve got to get it over with, and you have to get back to normalcy. And I’m not sure that I’m loving the way they’re doing it, because you’ve got to have victory. You have to have a victory, and it’s taking a long time. And the other thing is I hate, they put out tapes all the time.... They’re releasing the most heinous, most horrible tapes of buildings falling down. And people are imagining there’s a lot of people in those buildings, or people in those buildings, and they don’t like it.... But they’ve got to finish what they started, and they’ve got to finish it fast, and we have to get on with life.
https://hughhewitt.com/former-president-donald-trump-on-israels-war-20
24-and-much-more

Trump didn't even mention the aid workers who were killed. In fact, he didn't mention aid at all. He didn't mention civilians in any context whatsoever.

His only comment was that Israel needs to prosecute the war harder and stop letting people see the buildings they're destroying because it's bad PR. That's it.

Trump actively wants to kill more Gazans and he wants to kill them faster. His attitude toward Palestinians is simple: Starve them, kill them, whatever. Just get it over with.

6ixStringJack, Trump's solution to Gaza does not seem extreme to Trumptards because they, too, just want their lives to be over with. If Trumptards wanted long lives, they wouldn't live in their habitual manner.

Why Some Billionaires Will Back Trump
It’s about taxes — and a false belief in their own impunity.

April 4, 2024, 7:00 p.m. ET

Donald Trump’s campaign is reportedly strapped for cash. Small-dollar donations are running far behind their 2020 pace. Big Trump rallies aren’t yielding his biggest cash hauls. Some large-dollar donors are hesitant, in part because they worry (with good reason) that their money will be used not for the campaign but to pay his legal bills. So he has been wooing right-wing billionaires.

I have no idea how successful he’ll be, but it seems highly likely that at least some billionaires will provide substantial sums to a man who tried to overturn the last election and has been open about his authoritarian intentions — using the Justice Department to go after his political opponents, rounding up millions of undocumented immigrants and putting them into detention camps and more.

Which raises the question: Why would billionaires support such a person?

After all, it’s not as if they’ve been suffering under President Biden. Economists, myself included, often remind people that the stock market is not the economy. Low unemployment and rising real wages — both of which, by the way, the Biden economy has delivered, even if many people don’t believe it — have much more relevance to most people’s lives.

But stock prices are probably a much better indicator of how the very wealthy, who hold a lot of financial assets, are doing. And although in 2020 Trump predicted a stock crash if Biden won, the market has, in fact, been hitting record highs under the current administration.

Why, then, back a candidate who more or less promises to unleash social and political chaos?

One straightforward answer is that the wealthy will almost certainly pay lower taxes — and corporations will be less regulated — if Trump wins than if Biden stays in office.

If you believe, like some leftists, that Republicans and Democrats are basically the same — that both serve the interests of corporations and the elite — you’re wrong. The modern Democratic Party isn’t, despite what prominent Republicans say, Marxist or socialist. It does, however, have a track record of raising taxes on the wealthy to pay for social programs. Notably, the Affordable Care Act used new taxes on high-income individuals to pay for health care subsidies.

The Vicious Things Republicans Have Said About Palestinians Since October 7

"The costs of saying things that are undeniably and horrifically dehumanizing towards Palestinians are so low."

Michigan Republican Rep. Tim Walberg recently declared at a town hall that the U.S. “shouldn’t be spending a dime on humanitarian aid,” in Gaza. Instead, he posed, “it should be like Nagasaki and Hiroshima. Get it over quick.”

After the shocking statement went viral, his office tried to soften the blow. It provided a full transcript of Walberg’s comments to CNN, which reported that Walberg had also said that a similar logic could be applied to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. “Defeat Putin quick. Instead [of] 80% in Ukraine being used for humanitarian purposes, it should be 80-100% to wipe out Russia, if that’s what we want to do.”

Walberg then attempted to walk the comment back in a statement, in which he said he was not suggesting that nukes be used to end either war. Yet there’s no denying that he invoked horrifying instances of the U.S. dropping atomic bombs in reference to Gaza — just the latest vicious, warmongering statement by a Republican lawmaker since October 7.

6ixStringJack, I am around Trumptards all day long and they are out of their fucking minds. To them, it all seems normal, but it is not, and because it is not, Trumptards do NOT PROSPER in America. Being crazy is a handicap to getting ahead. No wonder Trumptards are always mad and gloomy about their future. Too bad. If they want a better life, stop with the crazy opinions loudly expressed around those who are not sympathetic toward retards and nutjobs. Trump is the Biggest Retard and Nutjob of living Presidents.
