He's got Ford and Ferrari on the brain.

28k now, huh? Let's just make it 100. That way it will hurt 4 times as much as it's going to hurt right now when it inevitably does crash again. It's already twice as high as it was the last time, and we all know how that went.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Don't care that I didn't have any money in there in the first place right now.

I certainly won't care when it does come crashing down again.

Good for you for making money off of the labor of others though.

I ain't mad at cha. It's how I bought my house. Let's just not pretend that this is not exactly what you do when you win in the DOW though.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Amazing how they were able to Impeach a president while, according to you, "dissembling & collapsing in disarray."

Nasdaq now at 9,000!? That's amazing! At the height of the tech revolution (mid 90's) Nasdaq was about 5,000. When it crashed down to 3,000 I bailed out of tech stocks. I'd be a frikkin' zillionaire today if I had just had the guts to hold on.

Earth to Dumbazz pizmobeach: When has Quid Pro Quo Nancy announced that anybody has been Impeached? Never? Did she announce that the Senate can now begin Trial proceedings regarding Article I of Impeachment? No? Did she announce that the Senate can now begin Trial proceedings regarding Article II of Impeachment? No? Did she announce that the Senate can now begin Trial proceedings regarding both Article I and II of Impeachment? No?
This means no Impeachment has yet occurred.

A Recession Warning Has Gotten Even More Recession-y

https://fred.stlouisfed.org/graph/?g=mtiz
Shaded areas indicate U.S. recessions. Recessions lower the Dow.

When financial reporters talk about inverted yield curves, they always mention the bright side: although inversions do seem to predict recessions, it can take as much as a year before the recession comes. Unfortunately, as you can see, the yield curve actually dropped below zero last summer and has been near zero ever since. If it drops again, it’s probably best to treat the entire period as a single episode, which means we’ll get another recession by mid-2020.

Or not. I mean, the yield curve is sort of a mysterious thing, and it “always” predicts a recession until it doesn’t.

We Just Witnessed The Fastest Stock Market Correction on Record

“The speed of the decline over the past week even beats the Black Monday episode in October 1987, where the peak was in August 1987,” Torsten Slok, chief economist at Deutsche Bank, wrote in an email.

S&P 500 has fallen 12% from its record high.

It only took six days, the quickest plunge in history.

Six days. That’s all the time it took for the S&P 500 to fall from a record into a correction. The term "correction" is used for a drop of more than 10%.

That’s the quickest turnaround of the sort ever, according to data from Deutsche Bank Global Research. The S&P 500 fell 4.4% Thursday, the worst day since 2011, bringing its total decline from a Feb. 19 high to 12%.

It would have been Worse but for Trump’s amazing fight against Coronavirus!

I predict it will go down to around 23,000 then start creeping up. But after dawdling several months between 25 & 26, the kaos perpetrated by Putin to ruin the election will trigger a REAL crash. I'm tokking cliff dive without a parashoot.

My advise: invest in long term storable food, E-rationz and set up a rainwater collection & purification system.

Hmmm. This might be a Gift Horse buying opportunity. 1001, 44th

A coronavirus-stricken stock market has seen $4.3 trillion in value vanish over the past 7 sessions, and Wall Street is wondering if the Fed can heal it.

Statistics don’t necessarily capture the severity and velocity of the move in stocks, which had only days before been putting in all-time highs. Indeed, the deterioration from the peak has been nothing short of breathtaking, highlighted by the S&P 500’s fastest slide from a record close to correction in history.

All totaled, global equity markets have wiped out $7 trillion from the levels of Feb. 19, when the S&P 500 notched its record, and the U.S. market alone has lost $4.3 trillion, according to Howard Silverblatt, senior index analyst at S&P Dow Jones Indices.

President Trump, who CNBC reported has leaned this week on the Federal Reserve to intervene to help address the possible the fallout from the spread of coronavirus, did so more explicitly in a Saturday press conference, saying the Fed should be a leader rather than a follower in slashing target lending rates in response to the disease outbreak.

Trump has frequently cited the stock markets as a proxy for the fiscal success of his administration and for the economy, opined that the markets “will all come back.”

Trade wars may eventually be resolved, but the coronavirus has the potential to deliver lasting disruption to supply chains. To think, the markets had been fretting a few short months ago about an unceasing tariff clash between China and the U.S.

Trump is panicking this morning:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
As usual, Jay Powell and the Federal Reserve are slow to act. Germany and others are pumping money into their economies. Other Central Banks are much more aggressive. The U.S. should have, for all of the right reasons, the lowest Rate. We don’t, putting us at a competitive disadvantage. We should be leading, not following!

Dow Closed today at 26,703. This is 9.6% off the Record All-Time High.
Guess that Gift Horse buying opportunity ended about an hour before closing.

Trump wants the Fed to drop interests rates to the same as Australia. Does Trump really think lowering rates by 1% will fix the Dow? He probably is dumb enough to believe it.

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
Australia’s Central Bank cut interest rates and stated it will most likely further ease in order to make up for China’s Coronavirus situation and slowdown. They reduced to 0.5%, a record low. Other countries are doing the same thing, if not more so. Our Federal Reserve has us paying higher rates than many others, when we should be paying less. Tough on our exporters and puts the USA at a competitive disadvantage. Must be the other way around. Should ease and cut rate big. Jerome Powell led Federal Reserve has called it wrong from day one. Sad!

I look forward to Trump suggesting that interest rates become negative numbers. Don't stop at 0.1% interest. Keep going to -1.0%, -1.5%, -2.0% . . . -10.0% interest! Wouldn't it be great if the Federal Reserve paid 10% interest to borrowers? Borrow $10 billion from the Fed, hold it for a year, and your profit would be $1 billion for doing nothing with the borrowed money.

1) As Trump requested, Federal Reserve responded:

For release at 10:00 a.m. EST
The fundamentals of the U.S. economy remain strong. However, the coronavirus poses evolving risks to economic activity. In light of these risks and in support of achieving its maximum employment and price stability goals, the Federal Open Market Committee decided today to lower the target range for the federal funds rate by 1/2 percentage point, to 1 to 1-1/4 percent.

2) But Trump wants more:

Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
The Federal Reserve is cutting but must further ease and, most importantly, come into line with other countries/competitors. We are not playing on a level field. Not fair to USA. It is finally time for the Federal Reserve to LEAD. More easing and cutting!

25,917.41, down 785.91, down 2.94%
