Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

In a piece explaining his work in POLITICO Magazine, Abramowitz wrote: “Over the past few decades, American politics has become like a bitter sports rivalry, in which the parties hang together mainly out of sheer hatred of the other team, rather than a shared sense of purpose. Republicans might not love the president, but they absolutely loathe his Democratic adversaries. And it’s also true of Democrats, who might be consumed by their internal feuds over foreign policy and the proper role of government were it not for Trump.” Bitecofer took this insight and mapped it across the country. As she sees it, it isn’t quite right to refer to a Democratic or Republican “base.” Rather, there are Democratic and Republican coalitions, the first made of people of color, college-educated whites and people in metropolitan areas; the second, mostly noncollege whites, with a smattering of religious-minded voters, financiers and people in business, largely in rural and exurban counties. “In the polarized era, the outcome isn’t really about the candidates. What matters is what percentage of the electorate is Republican and Republican leaners, and what percentage is Democratic and Democratic leaners, and how they get activated,” she said.

But here we have 2 competing theses - Silver and Bitecofer - and 2 competing predictions (though 538 hasn't come out with an election prediction yet), plus there are your betting sites! which have come out with an opposite prediction to Bitecofer. So there's plenty of mental models out there to compare with the final result.

Aside from family and friends, the only other people I've talked with are the young'uns at the restaurant who'll be voting for Sanders in the primary. So your betting sites are a window into what I might not consider otherwise. But I don't have any particular feel or convincing data for how this is going to go. At this point, I'm not settled on anything - except that with very few exception, I'll probably voting for 'not the democrat' again this year.

Do you think that's a fair review? I mean you downloaded the movie and replied to my post with your review only 15 minutes after I asked the question. Does your synthetic brain allow you to process the mkv directly in your brain and give immediate output? Kind of like Johnny 5 reading a book? I know it sounds like sarcasm, Second, but I'm truly trying as hard as I can to understand the mind of an automaton so I can better empathize with your kind in the future. Do Right, Be Right. :)

Do Right, Be Right. :)When I play a movie, I have total control. I do things at my speed and make my decisions. I already knew the songs and biography of Freddie Mercury. I did the same on that movie you can't stop praising, Joker. The comic book Joker figured into my loathing of that movie. But there was the mass murdering, Joker killing his Mother, and Joker killing his therapist at Arkham Asylum in the very last scene and tracking the therapist's blood down the hallway. The whole purpose of that movie is icky as is Trump's purpose. Read about Trump's purpose in "Noam Chomsky Calls Trump and Republican Allies "Criminally Insane"" which is much like Joker. https://blogs.scientificamerican.com/cross-check/noam-chomsky-calls-trump-and-republican-allies-criminally-insane/ The Joss Whedon script for Serenity, where Wash lives, is Serenity-190pages.pdf at www.mediafire.com/folder/1uwh75oa407q8/Firefly

He got lucky years ago and is the perfect model for what Bitecofer's predictions are going to look like in future elections. I don't like Bitecofer simply because she seems like a repugnant human being, and I didn't like the article because it was written by one or several "woke" leftists who just lap up the shit she's dishing, whether it's her predictions that Trump is going to lose in 2020 or her awful brand of third wave feminist superiority. Professionally speaking, they're both far overrated. But I don't know anything personal about Silver. Bitecofer is just as gross on the inside as she is on the outside. Do Right, Be Right. :)
