Renamed Nilbog for the film Troll 2 (1990).

Watching it on Comet Network now. Funny stuff, none of the crew or production spoke or understood English, except the Porn Star Costume Designer. The Store owner was an actual Mental Hospital patient around the time of filming. The whole cast had auditioned for Extras, but ended up as main cast.
Casting was done by 9 Italian men who didn't understand a word of English.

Is this the first time you've watched Troll 2?

I love how it's gotten such a huge following and is known as the Best Worst Movie Ever after Al Gore invented the internets.

I'd seen it with my brother late night on cable TV one weekend. I don't think I was even in high school at the time. A few years later, one of my circles of friends in my art class started talking about it and we'd quote that movie all the time after that. I think I assumed after how big it got online that there were school kids all over the country who stumbled on this movie and laughed at it together.

I'll never forget the scene where Grandpa's ghost, who can't talk to the boy until the boy opens the sliding door for him, froze time and told him he had to think of a way to keep his family from eating the green goo. So he gets up on the table and it blacks out right before he drops trow and starts peeing on everybody's food, only to cut to his family scraping the food off plates in the garbage. Then you've got Dad running into the bedroom with his son over his shoulder, throwing him in the bed, yelling some dumb lines at him, and messing with his belt so you think he's going to whip the boy, but he was just "tightening his belt by one loop so he didn't feel hunger pangs". (This does not work in real life, BTW).

Everybody's faces are dry, and nobody make any mention of how he must have peed over their faces and clothes since they were all about an inch away from putting food in their mouth when Grandpa's Ghost froze time, which to me is the funniest part about the entire scene.

There was no "good" way to make this scene, and probably a million ways to have made it terribly. Out of sheer luck and incompetence, they stumbled upon what has to be the absolute best and most memorable way to have done it. And I think that could be said for the entire awesomely awful thing.

It's one of my favorite movies of all time. Easily in my top 25.

Finally going out of my way to see the original Troll starring Sunny Bono was such a huge disappointment. That movie wasn't without its own low-budget charm and good parts, but there's no way it ever could have competed with The Best Worst Movie Ever.

I'm glad you finally got to see Nilbog's origin story.

If you haven't seen it yet, the Documentary "Troll 2: The Best Worst Movie Ever" is a must watch for any Troll 2 fans out there.
