Hmmmmmmmmmmm....

I noticed something that everybody seems to be failing to mention here.

If you look at Thursday night Previews for both Toy Story 5 and The Odyssey, they were basically neck-and-neck with Odyssey pulling in $100k more than Toy Story 5's $17.5 Million, marking it as the largest preview night so far in 2026 by a hair...

But did you look at Friday's numbers for both movies, which include that preview number?

The Odyssey: $51,280,000

Toy Story 5: $71,109,759

Wow. That's quite a difference. Nearly 20 Million.

Those are just numbers though. Anybody can see those and report on them without putting much thought into it.

But see... here's the thing nobody is talking about...

Toy Story 5 is a kid-friendly family movie. The Odyssey is an R-Rated flick.

But $71 Million worth of people decided to go out on Thursday and Friday night after work with their kids to see the movie they could have seen at any time all weekend, but only $51 Million worth of people went out to see a movie that kids aren't allowed to see in a theater without an adult.

I think this means something pretty bad for The Odyssey in the longer term after any built-in front-loading plays out here. Especially with a 3 hour runtime cutting into the number of likely repeat viewings.

If there was only going to be one day where The Odyssey beat Toy Story 5 on opening weekend, I would have certainly thought it to be Friday night, and yet it was a blowout the other way.

And I'm still not convinced that Toy Story 5 is a Billion dollar movie before it's out of theaters. It very well could stall out right around where Nolan's Oppenheimer did.

You need $625 Million to break even here.

You've got a 99% Critic rating and a 97% audience rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an "A" Cinemascore.

The entire Legacy Media and all the gay lefty websites are blowing this movie 24/7.

You've got all the momentum.

Don't fuck it up.

DFIU?
Maybe they already did that when they cast the Mexicans in the lead roles - because, yanno, Mexico was so big around 700BC in Turkey.

You didn't quite clearly mention, but you were comparing Domestic Box Office.

Yeah. They've literally been given everything they ever wanted on a silver platter here.

Even in a Media culture that has seen a lot of the wokisms muted and the critics finally coming out and calling a shit Disney movie a shit Disney movie after pretending all the woke crap over the last 10 years was great, they somehow all came together on this one movie. Even actors that aren't in it are all in on it.

And the media is using "Nolan" as a cudgel.

And I don't think that's very wise.

If you haven't seen my prediction here before... and it's purely speculation at this point... I believe that Christopher Nolan already had his acceptance speech for Best Picture for this movie written out before he even got the film greenlit.

He got $250 Million handed over to him easily after Oppenheimer, and then he got Absurd with it.

"You want forced diversity in everything? I'm going to make the dumbest fucking movie ever made. My casting choices will be the worst and most blatant form of race swapping ever seen. And I'm so crazy, I'll even replace Brad Pitt with Ellen Page. The film will be disjointed and relatively boring while offering nothing new. I'll even base it off of some dumb white feminist's rewrite. The media will blow it 24/7/365 until Oscar night, where it will sweep the awards even though it ended up being a dud if not a complete flop at the box office.

And when I accept that Best Picture award for a failure of a purposefully bad movie using the rules put on all of us and taking them to the max, I'm going to give you all a speech that will make Ricky Gervais jealous he couldn't have given it himself."

Contrary to what I think most people would believe if this were to happen, he's going to be the most sought director out there. And I think he knows this.

And his backup plan all along could have been "Hey... Maybe the people are stupid and deserve this movie. If it makes money and I don't get to give that speech, I'm still rich and gainfully employed."

There's really no negatives on the ROI for this on his part.

Yup. Among many, many, many other things.

Right.

There's not really much info on international yet. It's only one night. International money wasn't the point.
