Face The Music is scheduled to be their 3rd film.

2 stoners still haven't saved the universe. Kinda funny how 2 potheads not accomplishing anything in 40 years is a completely plausible premise.

Super Troopers. Bill & Ted. What other famed potheads? Who owns the rights to Cheech and Chong?
The scripts could be duplicated, word for word - it's not like potheads are going to change, or progress.

Your outlook on people who smoke weed is ignorant and uninformed.

Some of the most successful people I've ever known smoked everyday.

If you're a lazy, stupid pot-head, you were already lazy and stupid before you started smoking pot.

Funny. Most people I know toke so they will be lazy and stupid. The biggest advocates.

Every stoner knows they are at at their best when stoned.

Really. You asked them that. You said to somebody "do you smoke so you will be lazy and stupid" and somebody said yes back to you in response?

I don't believe that conversation ever once took place.

Another generalization with no merit. Some believe that, I'm sure. And some are right about it too.

I smoked every single day of my life for 12 years. 9 of 12 years I was making over 50k a year. You could take the entire rest of my working adult life while I haven't been smoking and I've made less in all of that time than I did in only two of the good years, again, all of which I was smoking weed.

Granted, I never went to work high, or smoked on breaks. It was something I did to unwind at the end of the night. An ounce of weed would last me roughly a month to five weeks. compare that to the ounce or two of cigarette tobacco I go through on a daily basis.

That's not to say that I'm even judging those that do smoke while they work. It does effect people differently. Personally, I don't like working for somebody else while I'm high, although I have zero problems doing work for myself while I'm high. I think the "paranoia" that comes into play is simply because of the stigma surrounding weed. Had I grown up with it in a world where nobody gave a shit I'd probably be high all day while working.

If you know somebody who smokes weed and is lazy and stupid, they were lazy and stupid before they smoked weed. Weed doesn't cure lazy and stupid.

Not a fan of desperate Hollywood attempts at cashing in on Nostalgia. I'd automatically go to my constant response of "PASS" on this one, but I have to admit I'm curious to see Alex Winter on the screen again after all these years. Too bad George Carlin won't be joining us.

I wonder if we'll finally get this on DVD now that Alex Winter is making a "comeback".

It's the only other thing I saw him in besides that Freaks movie. It ran like one time on MTV and never aired again that I knew about. I kept telling my friend about it when we were kids and when we went to watch it one night it wasn't on and for years he thought I just made the show up.

My gut was sore for days after watching Freaked. Almost as much as UHF.

I hardly even remember Freaked. I did like UHF. To be fair, I was probably 9 years old when I first saw it.

A re-watch of The Idiot Box doesn't hold up well either, but I really liked that when I was a kid too. There's still a few laughs to be had though.

Watch Freaked again then, as an adult. See if you don't bust a gut. Sure, probably cheezy, but it was made for laughs.

I misunderstood you. Don't know how, since a re-read makes it clear that you enjoyed them originally. For some reason I thought you meant that they made you ill because of how bad they were.

I'll have to give Freaked a re-watch. Might have to watch UHF again too. Conan the Librarian. lol

If you never saw The Idiot Box, you might like it. I think YouTube has all of them up and there's not really that much to watch. It was only on for about 6 episodes, I think. It was the first show that did the Beavis and Butthead format where there were sketches in between music videos, so a half hour episode was really only like 10 minutes. It was the pre-cursor to Liquid TV, which was the show that spawned Beavis and Butthead and launched Mike Judge's career.

Lots of corny stuff in there today, but Lochjaw the Detective alone is worth struggling through any slow parts. God's Mighty Anvil was good too.

Stanley Spudowski was the best part of UHF, and Fran Drescher really stood out.

First saw Beavis & Butthead in Cinema, the Sick & Twisted Festival, I thought it was 1990 or 91. I heard a few years later it was on TV.

No doubt. Me and my bros and my best friend would quote Stanley for years after we first saw the movie.

Man... it has been a long time since I've seen that movie. I forgot she was in it.

That's around the first time I'd have seen it. It was first aired on TV during Liquid Television. That's the same sketch show that had Aeon Flux cartoons in it too (I never saw the movie, but it starred Charlize Thereon).

Liquid Television was a lot stranger and darker than The Idiot Box was, focusing more on the surreal than on comedy. Even though a lot of the visuals were cool, I always thought I was missing something when I watched it that you wouldn't be able to get unless you were tripping on acid or something.

I never did LSD, and truth be told the idea of synthesized drugs like that still scare the crap out of me. I did mushrooms twice. I hated it the first time, and after doing it the second time to make sure it wasn't just a bad trip I hated it even more because I felt like I knew better. Too bad I didn't think to watch something like Liquid Television while I was on them, since I doubt very much I'll ever be doing it a third time.

IMHO you've got to just be extremely bored in real life if psychedelics are your drug of choice.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

After UHF Fran got her own TV show. I was glad for her.

And Michael Richards got on some TV show about neurotic Jews in New York. He had been fantastic, outstanding on Fridays, but I was happy for him, even tho he couldn't really showcase his talents anymore.

The first time I saw UHF I fell out of my seat at least 4 times. Once when I finally got my eyes open I was lost and everything was black - I was sprawled sideways on the floor of the seat row. At least once I had to look around to see if I was the only one laughing, and every face I saw was in uproar. I had to see it at least 3 times before I felt I hadn't missed any parts (from laughing too hard or not being able to open my eyes, or clear the tears). Back then you had to go back to the Cinema to watch again, because it would certainly disappear at the end of the week, never to be seen again. I couldn't wait until my abs had recovered, so my gut was sore for at least a week after the final showing. I was really in pain that last time.

The Sick & Twisted guys produced Mike Judge. I kinda doubt it would have been in Cinema after airing on TV.

Gee whiz. The interwebs seem to be devoid of accurate or adequate info about the Sick & Twisted Festivals.
The slightly more complete reference seems to be wiki.
I recall seeing Office Space and Frog Baseball in the same Festival, and another year saw the South Park kids before South Park (I dragged friends along for that one, they became fanatics when it was on TV). I didn't know then that OS and B&B were from the same guy - they were separated by several other works. When OS went to Cinema I was a little confused, because it wasn't cartoons, and it had Jennifer Aniston.

But I can't find any listing of all the entries in each year's festival film. I recall there were at least 2 in that first one i saw which were far better than B&B.
