I just thought I would post this for insurance purposes.

For the past three years, we have been walking our dog about the neighborhood. There is one women that lives down the street that has mental and health issues, and as I would pass sometimes I would say "Hi"- until last year when she got ahold of my phone #. Then she started calling EVERY DAY, even though I said a thousand times I DO NOT WANT TO TALK TO YOU OR ANYONE ELSE ON THE PHONE. Really, the phone is just for appointments and family. Then she started stopping me EVERY time I went outside, and borrowing things constantly, from can openers to shovels to "hey can I catch a ride??" She smokes and has cats, both I have breathing issues with.

Then last fall when her live-in BF got a job (she and he were living on her disability checks) she started getting drunk every other weekend (and they were beating each other up and there was a gun that went off) and calling me up DRUNK. And then she started interrogating my kid every time she went past. Both hubbs and I have told her off, said don't call here anymore. I hear her scream obscenities when we go outside now. The reason I post this is she is a special kind of bat-shit crazy, and if anything happens I will at least have this post to be able to show someone. No, really, we have weapons at each door now, it's gotten to that.

Has anyone ever had a stalker issue like this????

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Does she threaten you? Do you have a cellphone and does it take videos? Can you work with the phone company to document her incessant calling? http://www.firstamendmentcenter.org/telephone-harassment-statutes Can you change your number or block hers?

The reason why I'm suggesting this is because you may want some sturdier documentation. Also, if she's crossed a line, especially with a minor, you may be able to get a restraining order. I realize that papers don't stop bullets, so fortunately you've got your defenses. But legal backup can't hurt.

Let me just point out that the author left out vital relevant facts in the opinion piece. Doing that is known as cherry-picking. And whether you do that in the news, in discussion, in debate or in opinion, when you distort the facts, you've changed the nature of your communication into propaganda. But WE don't have any of THAT in the US, do we?!

You can't block her number?
I thought that phone companies used to be able to clock callers, and then sorta stopped when people could do so individually.
Do you not have caller ID, so you don't need to answer when it is her?
Do you have programmable ring tones, so when she calls, the Psycho theme plays?

She's stopped calling for now, and no- I don't want a cellphone. I have a digital camera, but we only walk past when she's asleep.
Also, don't restraining orders get served to the restrained? If you knew this person, then you would know that would only push her more over the edge. She has a terminal illness (as in, it could kill her in ten or 20 or so years ????, she's mid 50's) so I'm not a fan of poking the nothing-left-to-lose bear.
I've made it clear, well, clear to a normal person anyway, that I don't want anything to do with her, but she seems determined to use me for her own purposes.

To put this in perspective, she asks new neighbors if they have any drugs she can buy, she routinely answers the door in her underwear, and she tried to give my (then 11) kid a DVD about smoking weed and hooking up (as in promoting it). If I had to guess I would say she's a narcissist with a borderline personality disorder, which is why she is sooooo mad that I don't like her.

They charge $120 a year for caller ID here, believe it or not, and she's not worth it. Yep, I AM the last person on Earth with a landline, but I'm home all the time anyway. Hubbs has a cell, which I sometimes take with me during the day, but mostly to wake him up on time. I mean it when I say I really really really don't like to talk on the phone. This also isn't the first time I've had a phone stalker. Once, hubby's friend called and hung up on me a couple times a day. I guess he had a crush or something.

Since it's a landline you may be able to get some mileage out of your phone company. At least, I was able to when I had an (unknown) phone harasser calling usually between 3 and 4 AM. Since you live in a different state from me, however, your applicable laws may be different from mine. I suggest you give their customer service a call and explore your options.

I think, if it's possible, one of the most effective and funniest would be to have her line simply not engage your ringer. From her end it would be a phone endlessly ringing and ringing and ... every single time.

From your end, blessed silence.

Well, after two weeks of screening calls she finally stopped calling, but today I get a piece of paper in my mailbox.

On one side it says "I wish my wife was this clean."
Then scribbled under it, "I wish my wife was this dirty"

It reminds me of something I've seen in a TV show or movie somewhere....

The other side says, and I quote

"eyes fries dies lies scar car

I've heard that people can write whole pages of gibberish while drunk, but never seen it 'till now. I dunno...

I just thought I would update for my own purposes.

The stalker lady made friendly with the new neighbors (even though I explained in no uncertain way that stalker goes nuts eventually).

Well, two times she showed up at neighbors house drunk, knocking on all doors and windows and getting IRATE when no one answers. Neighbor dad comes out screaming she needs to go home. Stalkers boyfriend comes back down and threatens to burn down the house when they aren't home, so they call the cops and she is warned not to ever go one their property (or mine) again.

So, of course she comes back down the next day, knocking on their door. Cops are called again. They take her picture and name this time. They say if she does it again, they will file an official complaint and she will be given a citation for public nuisance, and then if she does it again, she will be arrested. The sad thing is this has to happen five or six times before anyone can do anything about it, and by then it's usually to late to do anything.

PS, I was also forced to get a cell. I still hate the things. The only good thing is the call block feature. I can't find it half the time and I've left it at the checkout four times already...

I also got more new neighbors today, and they have a bunch of little kids. I just need to move...

First you and the other neighbors need to warn the new neighbors with children what's what.

You're doing fine it will be over in a few months, sounds like these two will continue clocking up incidents with the cops. Tell the kids around he and she's dangerous, addicted, crazy. Keep going about your business and ignore the crazies. That's the problem if youre an ordinary regular person, if you knew someone who knew the local Mayor or Head of Police that would speed things up but just carry on and ignore these toxic people. What would be great is if they met another couple some blocks away and both couples cancel each other out quantum physics style in a big flash bang.
Sounds like it may be only a matter of time before she gets herself arrested, will be forced to dry out or go to jail. Maybe they might do you a favor and drive off and crash their car into a tree or something.

One would think that. They get drunk, drink everything in the house, and then drive to get more, but not on a set schedule so that we could call ahead in enough time for the police to get here (usually 6-12 minutes in an actual emergency).

As many knock down drag out fights as they get into, I am constantly surprised one doesn't have a stroke, she's had 3 black eyes in two years, and he's had 2... Actually it could explain why she's gotten soo completely nuts of late. Between the drink and fighting, she's got to have nothing left upstairs.

You're allowed to call the cops when you see a drink driver. If you are sure they are drunk you can call it in when that person drives away to get more booze. They are after all, driving through your neighborhood.

Yeah, but I don't KNOW when they do it, I've only seen it once, but others have to. They don't get drunk EVERY weekend. I would literally have to stake out her house every weekend all night long for a month to find out when they do it.

Oh yeah... Long stories. Drugs are generally involved. And people with no life options. Also downscale urban or semi-urban environments, see drugs, above.

Well, that's hella ironic.

He's dead. Drunk himself into an aneurysm, then SHE got drunk a month later and drove to get more booze and drove into a power pole. Got sent to jail, got out, stalked the neighbors KIDS on Facebook and got sent upstate in some sort of religious program for rejects.

Meanwhile, I have a NEW neighbor problem.

There is a woman who lives near me, and she's late 60's, bipolar, and an arthritic brittle diabetic. She usually keeps to herself with her dogs, but her family doesn't have a whole lot to do with her and she can't drive anymore. If her family doesn't take her to the store once a month, I have done it for her, about 10 times over the last 6 years or so.

I have never minded helping her with things she needs, but she has convinced an ortho to replace her shoulder joint, and later, a hip joint since she can't walk. She has asked me to:

Go to pre-op appointments (plural)
Take her to the surgery
Take her home from surgery
Change her bandages
Make her dinner for two weeks
Take care of her dogs
Take her to her after care appointments

I'm not even remotely ok with doing 9/10 of these things. I'm good with medical knowledge, but I'm not a nurse, much less to a fragile diabetic. I don't even know how she got someone to agree to the surgery in her condition. She needs to go to re-hab or a nursing home after the surgery but I have no idea how to go about that, both the discussion or the process.

I have tried calling the local office that helps aged people and they passed me off to the regional office.
I'm supposed to hear back from them tomorrow.

If I can't get anywhere, I may have to consider filing elder neglect charges on her adult children.

Probably should have years ago when she didn't have anyone to take her to the store....
