Interesting. I always thought there should have been a sequel to Leon, The Professional with Mathilda all grown up. Portman was nothing short of masterful in the original, and actually made the movie better because of her obvious talent. She effortlessly stole scenes from Jean Reno, without even trying (which, in fact, made him raise up his game).

Yes, a cautionary tale of why studios should get contracts for sequel opportunities, in the original film. Not that such wouldn't have been expired during the span from Professional to Columbiana. Sounds as if Natalie was still interested in the project, but apparently just could not schedule it.

I agree 100%, but without Portman in it, it just didn't fly.

He did the opposite of a horror movie. A family friendly version of Aliens from Outer Space. It was a huge hit and the first VHS tape to cost below $80 bucks a pop. It was on sale for $19.99 and sold in the millions (genius move on the studio's part).

IIRC, TOP GUN was the first VHS<$20. That was because it was part of a massive Pepsi ad campaign.

I also remember that ET was released pretty much at the same time as John Carpenter's The Thing. ET kicked their butts.
