OK it's right in the title SPOILERS!!! This is your last warning.

So, wow what did everyone think? It was definitely different. I really liked how Tony was having trouble dealing with the events from Avengers. I liked him calling out the Mandarin and getting his world rocked. I hated that they blew their shot at doing the Mandarin. How the heck do you waste arguably Iron Man's biggest nemesis? I'm debating whether they could still do the Mandarin for real and just not use the name or something. That just feels like the biggest waste.

However, I was happy that they didn't end up with too many villains syndrome. I was getting worried when I heard they were doing Extremis and Mandarin. Extremis was a little altered and that was kinda lame. I mean I guess they were still a threat, but I'd like to have seen them get more powers than just healing and fire. Also I would have liked to see Tony go through the Extremis process to compete, but I guess that's not necessary. I liked how Pepper got involved in the story. I was worried when I saw a pic of her in the suit, but that turned out to be a non-issue.

I don't know how I feel about the ending with Tony getting the arc reactor out and seemingly moving on. He's just too great of a character when he's trying to fix things and deal with his own flaws at the same time. I feel like they'll end up just having to blow off the whole thing when they bring him back. "Oh yeah well I guess I didn't really grow and I'm just going to go right back to making suits again. Disregard that ending and any emotional impact it might have had."

Also, what the hell was with him spending so much time fixing the mark 42 and building ghetto home depot iron man when apparently he could have summoned 40 other suits at any time? That is a huge plot hole that I can't even make some contrived explanation for.

Last but not least the kid in the movie was awesome. He wasn't annoying. He had great comic timing and played off of Tony really well. Kids are usually jarring when they get crammed into movies, but I think that kid was perfect.

All in all I liked it but I'm always going to feel bad about what they did with the Mandarin.

Apparently there is a cute add-on scene so if ya don't wanna know, don't click....I won't be able to see it for a couple weeks yet

SHINYGOODGUY

Ok, saw it today and I thought it was good and entertaining. Still like Iron Man 1 best though.
Here was a guy having girlfriend troubles like any schmuck and that was refreshing, not all superheroes are perfect, so I did like the conflict. I liked the connection to Happy again, IM2 was lacking in that. Call me a nut but I liked that whole fake out with the Mandarin, I thought it was brilliant (Ben Kingsley was hilarious) and it breathed life into the film. Besides it was interesting how they presented the terrorists and the whole set-up in Miami, simply brilliant!

Guy Pearce was solid as the scientist-gone-mad Aldrich. The plot was believable, within the context of Iron Man's world, and even Gwyneth wasn't annoying. I even liked the way they introduced her as a possible super hero...clever Stan Lee. The new addition, Rebecca Hall, I like......she's a fox......and definitely a good actress (better than Paltrow at this stage in her career).
I too liked the kid, I totally agree he had great chemistry with RD Jr, the scenes with him were crisp, sharp and perfectly timed.

As far as Iron Man removing the Arc, well I think that's just a set up for his next adventure. They'll find some way to challenge Tony into reclaiming his role as Iron Man and build that into the overall plot, just like a comic book.

The Mark 42 was a proto-type but was connected to the main server, Jarvis, and since he communicated through Jarvis to get to his other suits, well.....you see!? Can't get to the other suits unless Jarvis is functioning. One thing, I could have done without Iron Patriot, he was superfluous IMHO. All in all, I had a good time!
