Gotta share this with you guys. The 1942 film Roxie Hart with Ginger Rogers is a hoot. The play and film Chicago is based on the story from the roaring 20s, and Roxie Hart (not a musical) is a classic farce/comedy with some solid comic roles by Ginger and Adolphe Menjou. I saw it on Netflix and got a kick out of it, so here I am posting. If you want a good laugh, check it out.

HAKEN

Likes to mess with stuffs.

Shiny that you liked it.

Back in the day when I was in elementary school and out for the Summer, the local station used to air old musicals in the mornings to fill the time slot before all the soap operas would start. I was a latchkey kid and had nothing to do and would watch all the movies by Mickey Rooney, Judy Garland, Fred Astaire, Gene Kelly, the guys from the rat pack, etc. all Summer long, which I have to admit I really enjoyed. Unbeknown to me, it was like getting an education in cinema because the following Summer, the station would play all the old Westerns and the year after that all the old Sci-Fi movies. I still can recall a lot of what I saw to this day and some of my friends would just go blank when I refer to those movies because they've never seen them before.

Here is a deleted scene from Roxy Hart that was cut.

I remember staying up late on weekends and watching some of the old movies on The Late Show on Channel 2, or on Channel 13 (Public television) BC, Before Cable. I always knew Ginger Rogers was a good dancer from all the Fred Astaire movies, but this shows she was a great dancer in her own right. But what had me jazzed about this movie was how funny (and cute) she was. Back then they had to do more than act. She was a triple threat - sing, dance and act. Plus she was a looker.
