I'm not sure what year it came out, but I'm talking about the recent one that's only a few years old. It's a really funny show, and something you could easily watch with the kids and not get bored.

The cartoon and the live action TV show from years ago were both on my radar, but I don't recall ever watching more than bits and pieces of either of them, so I can't really say how it stacks up.

Arthur and his family relationships, particularly with his sister Dot, is really the heart of the show in this version. The Tick himself is just the insane catalyst that always gets the ball rolling.

I'd put this one on my recommend list for sure. Give an episode or two a shot and I'd be surprised if you didn't watch it all the way through. It's only two seasons long. Season 1 is 12 episodes, and season 2 is only 10 episodes. It's one of those shows that I wouldn't mind seeing more of, but they did a fine job wrapping it up so you won't feel screwed if they never come back to it.

And without giving any spoilers, I just have to mention that I wouldn't even want them to come back to it unless they were able to make a better ending for season 3 than they did for season 2. It's like the show was a 22 episode lead up to one of the funniest jokes I've seen on family friendly TV.

Although I'd never put The Tick on my top 10 list of shows, I think the only TV shows I could honestly say ended better were Breaking Bad and Chuck. Big points awarded to The Tick for pulling off that feat. Most of my favorite TV shows of all time fell very short of coming up with such a satisfying ending.

Bonus Points: Wash isn't flying the ship. Wash IS the ship.

A big gay flying warship that doesn't fly anymore because it identifies as a boat, and his name is...

Yeah this one is Amazon so they say its different. Might give it a try, there was a toon way back and I remember the original and cancelled early by Fox it could have been bad timing and came out around the time of the 911 attacks, the original show was funny and had guest roles from guys like Ron Perlman, Christopher Lloyd. I never read the comic but I heard it was like a parody of comics when stuff like "Mystery Men" the Stripperella girl the Darkwing Duck cartoon and Dr Horrible’s Sing-a-Long Blog....the era before comicbook movies started taking themself way serious

Yeah. I didn't watch the original ones. Wasn't much of a TV watcher at all when they had come out. You don't need to even know the old ones existed to enjoy this. I have no idea how they compare to each other.

I went into it blind and was very happily surprised how good it was.

Though I'd venture a guess this is the most serious version out of the three, it certainly doesn't take itself seriously. Kind of a breath of fresh air, really.
