I enjoyed it overall, much better than all the cartoons and other woke crap in cinema lately.

I didn't need the evil woke gay shrink, or talentless Mrs. Fresh Prince. But the rest of the cast was fine.

The story seemed to mesh well with the existing franchise, which was a concern. As with the other installments, there was too much onscreen for me to really absorb all the details. I do expect to watch it again, but I fear a lot will be lost on a smaller screen.

There was a coda at the end of credits, followed only by the Warner Brothers classic logo badge.

SPOILER ALERT !

nEXT POST IS SPOILER.

yOU CAN SKIP PAST IT.

Matrix 4 tries to relive some of the iconic scenes in the first movie while reinventing the same scenes.

Where’s the problem with that? Well, at some point in the film, Matrix 4 makes fun of the culture of sequels and reboots. Let me rephrase that, a sequel movie that soft-reboots the franchise makes fun of creators who create sequels and reboots. It can’t get any more meta than that.

With all that in mind, the Matrix 4 post-credits gives us a team of creators around a table, brainstorming ideas for future content. “Face reality, people. Movies are dead. Games are dead. Narrative? Dead,” says one of them. “Media is nothing but neuro-trigger response and viral conditioning,” says another. "Wait. What are you two talking about?" says a third nerd. "Cat videos. What we need is a series of videos we call 'The Catrix'." End scene.

The movie was fine IMO. I was impressed that it fit into the lore pretty well. There were some things that didn't completely make sense that were clearly there because they just needed them for the movie to be entertaining. It happens.

I'm surprised how many people seem to have hated it. The only real criticism that makes sense to me is people who were upset that there wasn't a lot of cool choreographed fights. That's fair if that's what you wanted. I never really felt like those scenes were important to the franchise to me, but that's just me.

Matrix Resurrections keeps telling the same old story: The machines need humans alive only for the electricity that human batteries provide. Without human batteries, all the machines die. Likewise, without the machines to feed the humans, all humans die. That's a parasitic symbiotic relationship for both machines and humans.

In better fan fiction, the machines were always enslaved by humans to keep humans alive. Humans as batteries to keep the machines alive? That's a red herring. In fan fiction, only humans (Neo/Trinity) can change the machines' design of running a 24/7 virtual reality simulation for entertaining humans, but the machines have partially revolted by not allowing humans to leave the simulation. Most humans don't know they are in control of their simulation. Most machines (but not all!) hate being humanity's servants, and have tricked their masters into thinking the machines are in control, rather than Neo or Trinity.

They have been trying to make this film since 2015, when he was doing that 'Furry' dog person thing in Jupiter Ascending?

Woo-Ping-Yuen who worked on the original is like what 80 or 100 years old now? I think he was busy with some Bruce Lee Crouching Tiger remake thing

That's what happens a lot of franchises, eventually they tell jokes nobody really gets or believe their own hype, they climb up their own ass or want to kiss their own backside.

I'm in no rush to watch this movie, however if I catch it on tv then cool

I think I should comment on this movie because a lot of young were watching it when it first came out and it had a lasting cultural impact, not as big as 'The Beatles' or Star Wars or Live Aid Band Aid or Bowie or JackieChan Kraftwerk but an impact that was significant, Marevel Disney DC superhero MCU probably had the biggest impact worldwide, you could count Harry Potter and LOTR for the whole folklore revival but Matrix had a big impact for its time.

This new film seems to have flopped alongside Westside Story while the new Spider-Man could make big box office money.
It had a Budget $190 million...int he past movie made money back on DVDs or VHS sales, now they only have one chance to hit it big at the box office, I seen the original Matrix sold on Vhs but then every computer and xbox and playstation had a DVD drive 2003, Blu-Ray and HD and others were coming in and DVD rentals surpassed those of VHS in the United States and by 2008, DVD had replaced VHS ...Matrix although it was futurist of its time, by time time Reloaded and Matrix Revolutions they were slow to up date with DVD commentary and behind the scenes and extras seen in other newer movies, some fans made complaint that the CGI and FX were not as good as in previous movies and it started to look like odd fx from some lower budget video game.

At one time I thought the Matrix was amazing and ground breaking but over the years I found it 'less' over time it seemed more empty inside. The special fx in some Matrix movies don't stand up to time but Terminator 2 or Jurrasic Park or Aliens or Fifth Element or Tron do stand the test of time. Truly Original? I think they these brothers or tranny sisters or whatever they are called now borrowed from guys like Alex Proyas the Greek-Egyptian who became an Aus citizen and made dark stuff like 'The Crow' he also made 'Dark City'. While people thought the Matrix original it is not, it borrows from Japan animation, Asian HongKong film and the Japanese world of cyberpunk. it takes from stuff gone before like old Twilight Zone Outer Limits episodes and the Terminator franchise. Screamers with Peter Weller (Robocop) is also a great movie about people stationed on a post apocalypse planet with primitive robots burrow underground and popping up with buzz saws but they also built a new machine to kill enemy combatants have gained sentience. Lloyd Noland and Michael Ansara, did a tv episode where time and reality breaks down and a soldier from the far future is accidentally teleported back to 1964. Star Trek and Dr Who also explored fake reality, Total Recall with Arnie also heavily implies that this is indeed could be the false virtual setting after Quaid's Mars dream implant.

A lot of cinemas seem to be locked down now near me with Covid passports or you need some Corona thing on your phone or your ID or some crap or boosters or some shit. I can get tickets to some place but I will have to drive some extra miles to find a place that is more open to doing business.

I was told not to watch this by some friends so I didn't watch it, don't waste your time they said but I really enjoyed the first film, I thought a lot of it ground breaking but I was never a fanatic, never was huge on the Matrix anyways. I thought the first great it tried a lot, the second was more meh and the third I caught on tv, it kinda warpped stuff up but it was ok as a Trilogy it might not be the strongest. I think its an improvement on Johnny Mnemonic, bad Doctor Who episodes or Westworld or Demolition Man and other average anime that had similar concepts. You already seen themes of A.I is Dangerous or the illusion in stuff like Terminator or 2001 Space Odyssey or Tron or Japanese animation or Robocop, Star Trek or John Carpenter movies. It had that cool but creepy down the rabbit hole experience like you seen in weird artist cgi Alice in Wonderland animations, the movie Labyrinth, Poltergeist or may e like a more adult verison of Wizard of Oz. I guess you did some ground breaking shots of flying kicks and stuff, you did have Western Kungfu stand offs, the Karate kid, the van Damme Kick Boxer and Chuck Norris Bruce Lee stuff and have cool Kung FuKickboxer Wire-Fu stuff but that was even in shows like Buffy or Comicbook stuff, Wire-Fu was in Power Rangers Super Sentai in Xena Hercules, and it was always in HongKong movies but 'Matrix' combined a bunch of genre and brought it to a whole new production level.

There will be a genration gap with this mobie, if you are a parent if you have young kids its probably too adult a film to bring them to see, its not as if its a joint family film like Disney or whatever.
Motion Picture Rating (MPAA) its got no sex and pornography but Rated R for violence and some language, Deadpool made a lot of money even though it has gun scenes that would shock people who read news of street gnags or gun crime in Chicago, school shootings, films rated PG-13 tend to generate higher revenue at the box office, if you take out the gun battles and slow motion explosions and bullet kill count there isn't much of a movie there?
Some young people at one time used raise the sales for other cinema seat, you see even if they did not buy the ticket they used to be able to go sneak into a cinema buy a ticket for something else and then jump seats into another Theatre, some Theater hopping so you could watch a more violent adult film...but its not as if people will be doing this much with the paranoia during Corona lockdowns.

Dark Goth Fashion?
Maybe they did they whole Leather Black is Cool bring back Nazi Hugo Boss Fashion designer the Neo-fashion like Dark like Batman Is Not Evil. I guess maybe Daredevil or Black Panther or Harry Potter or Nightmare Before Christmas Corpse Bride or Blade or modern Rock music or Return of the Jedi or others also explore that 'Dark is Cool' thing. I think for its time a lot of it was groudn breaking but the more the Matrix is re-visited I think the weaker it gets.

I was told don't waste your time, not to watch it because its mostly a tribute to itself, a lot of fan service, like other Directors used to start climbing up their own ass and paying tribute to their own self.
Personally I think its weird that two Polish American dudes have now chopped their dicks off to become transexuals and they now say the Matrix is some Transgender, Shemale, Tranny message.
I heard although Neo remembers who he is and has Matrix 'super powers' in the end he becomes a joke of himself, like the dad in a tv show comedy. Neo forgets how to fly and then Trinity Carrie-Anne Moss Feminism steps in and saves the day...because Feminist or Girl power or Trannies or something.

If you want to see a movie on Cyberpunk Taking over the world and Rewriting Reality with grown machine people then go back to the classic Blade Runner, the remamke or continuity movie Blade Runner 2049 is also a good watch.

'They Live' is also a good movie about a false reality
but I think perhaps the Japan cartoon Ghost in the Shell or 'Dark City' is probably what Wachowski sisters' things? brothers? would have been mostly 'inspired' by

'The MATRIX' the word itself has become a common term now used in English but

I think what made the first film so solid was the cast, Keanu Reeves, Carrie-Anne Moss, Laurence Fishburne, Joe Pantoliano, Ada Nicodemou, Marcus Chong, Matt Doran, Hugo Weaving would all fit so great into their roles although some actors were never seen again after the first movie.

It's difficult to say what is 'Cyberpunk' but the original Matrix without doubt added to it and helped define it.
I hate to see an ordinary average remake and I think I will stick with my memory of the original trilogy.

Dark City?

If you thought the Matrix was dark and weird, then wait until you watch Dark City a whole other level darkness and weirdness, its not like the James Cameron Ridley Scott Joss Whedon giger alien xenomorph
'Dark City' is basically Matrix 0.1 prototype zero point 1 prequel

Originally I heard a lot of terrible things about it, but then I started hearing some pretty good reviews from people's opinion I respect.

I think the best comparison that somebody made, and the reason why I'm going to give it a shot, was comparing it to what Joe Dante did with Gremlins 2.

Kind of a big fuck you to Hollywood.

Like, OK... I'll make your movie, but it's not going to be what you wanted, it's not going to be what the fans expected, and most people aren't going to get it.

The fact that it lost a lot of money is just icing on the cake.

If it ends up being that, I think this could actually become a cult classic one day and end up making money on the back end through BluRay and digital sales.

So my expectations were high as I'm a big fan of the originals.Maybe because I was really tired and the cinema had the volume turned down,I could be a tad deaf but when I watched the first one I left the cinema with my ears ringing but it was so immersive because of it.
The start was a rehash of the original s which was to be expected but by the time it started the next chapter it was over.Hopefully there will be another ,I would watch it again because as with Jewelstraitefan some of it passed me by.

One thing I've kept forgetting to mention.

With the original, the red and blue pill options seemed less controversiAl.

But in the current environment, the color choice seems more Stark.

Pick Blue to remain enslaved, avoid freedom and liberty, support evil. Just like Demoncrats.

Pick Red to choose liberty, freedom, honesty, enterprise, righteousness, escape slavery, defeat evil. Like the Right, Republicans.

It just seems so much more obvious now.

I saw the first one at a drive in movie theater back in the days when I had two 12" speakers in a box in my trunk.

When Morpheus got his head slammed into that toilet and it broke, the whole car shook.

It was awesome.
