Dedication to lost styles trying to bring them back for the big screen?

Tim Burton's Sleep Hollow - Gothic, Powerful effects, Editing, Sound maybe a Dark Comedy Satire?

Is Sleepy Hollow Secretly Brilliant?

and a good Director will pick a good Cinematographer to help him keep it all moving

the Director says shoot this and record the film this way with this script and changes and these actors, then a director of photography sometimes shortened to DP or DOP is the person responsible for the film work the actual recording of a film, when they use old styles of film technique they might use older cameras using reels of film stock, talk about what needs to be cut with scissors but not anymore, change of lenses, changing filters, lighting etc. While doing the actual film work

The Director actually Directs but gets to have his coffee and cigarettes, the Director tells how the shot is to be done while the other guys is up climbing a ladder with the camera operator and camera balanced up high in the rain, they traditionally were the guy pushing the camera, down in the trench, climbing a platform, the other Technician.

Looks like this thread slowed down before Wind River came out.

And yet, Wind River is the epitome of the film I think of when I see this thread title.

I saw that in the theater. I honestly couldn't tell you anything about it and if I tried I might mix it up with the Disney cartoon that me and my brothers watched a bunch when we were kids. I do remember really liking that movie though. One of the few times I went to the movies with a girl where we both enjoyed it.

Probably belongs in the date movie thread if it wasn't already mentioned there.

I am going to give an example of non-Cinema but great 'Cinematic Story Telling', its not by traditional camera and not a Director on set and real-life actors but it has all the other cinema elements the story board, sound and camera mixed with animation...and it is truly cinematic

Staying with the Burton theme

Batman The Animated Series 1992

Nowhere did this thread topic say it must have real life actors, nowhere does the thread topic say all film must have real life direction so instead I give you some of the greatest Cinematic Storyteller that is not traditional film

if back then youre a child watching this toon a crafted story board dream put to real carton film reel, yes some Disney came close but you would never seen another cartoon done on this level ever again
