The Seattle screening for Serenity sold out.

Damn! Guess I should check my e-mail inbox at 3:30am more often so I don't miss these screening announcements.

If you picked up a few extra tix and are feeling benevolent, I'll happily buy one or two from you!

Please help a veteran Browncoat out!

I'm in the same position. If anyone has one or two extra tickets (prefferably two, but I'll take what I can get!), I'll gladly purchase it/them!

I don't want to have to drive down to Portland. :(

My brother, sister and I and our significant others are all dying for tickets too. If anyone has 6 to spare, let me know and I'll buy them...

I wish they'd chosen a larger venue than the Meridian. Sheesh! Those theaters are tiny in there.

Contact me: hjermsted@yahoo.com if you can help this Browncoat out.

Thanks and stay gold!

Hey guys, if you'd like to give it a try you can check out my Seattle ticket auctions at

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=6529472107

As of now no one has bid, so who knows what will happen. I know it is totally lame to put them up like that and I'm sorry! Good luck if you go for it

Fellow Browncoats:

The thing nobody seems to have noticed in all this is that scalpers have become involved in this process. I was very concerned when Joss related that theatre personnel had been threatened by ticket requesters. I'm now inclined to believe that these were not the acts of over-eager fans, but of scalpers looking to make as big a profit as possible. My guess is that these people bought the maximum number of tickets and are now auctioning them off in various places, in order to victimize the fans and studio's good will.

If I were the studio, I would immediately cancel all the shows and give ticket holders a refund of the $10 face value. Then I'd rethink the process (say a limit of 1 ticket per person) and reschedule the events. It would keep people somewhat honest (which scalpers are not).

In any event, Browncoats should never bid on one of these tickets. It's profiteering at its worst. Make the scalpers eat their excess tickets. And as for the two tickets with excess proceeds going to charity: Yeah, right, and I'm the King of Londinium and wear a shiny hat...

Disgustedly,

zoid

P.S.
Somebody's trying to take advantage of you, make a profit off of you. Don't let 'em.

Zoid -

It sounds like you mean well, and I'm not gonna try to be excessively mean to you or anything, but in all seriousness you don't know me at all and its really not fair to assume I am trying to profit from fans or take advantage of them, when I am actually doing neither. Like I said, I am using the money to help my friend come to the screening with me and I am going to use whatever money is left, if there is any, to help sponsor a kid through the Plan program in Burkina Faso. So yeah, you're welcome to not believe me, but I just wanted to defend myself because I really don't fit the picture you painted in your post. And while I wanted to stay mature, I also feel obligated to say you suck.

Gosh, I realize it's the wrong film, but "I find your lack of faith disturbing!" If the seller above says proceeds are going to charity, I have to believe that's the truth. He could sure sell those tix for a pretty price without making that claim.

As for me, I sure hope there ARE scalpers at the Chicago screening. I'll be buying.

And I'm still willing to part with my Austin ticket for face value or exchange for a Chicago ticket. You won't see mine on ebay.

Why not? You could auction it off to the highest bidder and pay for your plane ticket and a limo to the theatre. Apparently, in the modern version of 'Scruples' that's perfectly fair...

Inquisitively,

zoid

P.S.
I've never paid a scalper's price for a ticket, nor have I ever paid for sex. Same difference as far as I'm concerned. But, hey, to each his own. Enjoy the movie. I hope it's worth what it costs you. Everybody else: I'll see y'all in September.

I'm kind of annoyed you're not selling them together. I'm not bidding on them if there's a chance I lose on one and can't bring my husband with me, especially given how far we would have to travel.

Nor am I paying a "buy it now" price 20 times that of the cost of a ticket. Sheesh.

And therein lies the problem. This site is a virtual home for a lot of us. We're a pretty friendly bunch. When someone knocks and introduces themselves, we welcome them into our ranks. But when someone knocks on the door of your house and the first words out of their mouth are, "Look at what I'm selling," what do you do?

PHYSCHICK - Yeah, I thought about putting them together, but in the end I thought it was as likely that someone might want a single ticket, and at least this way if you want two tickets you could buy them both, though it would be difficult obviously, but it is possible. And so selling them seperately it is at least possible for either someone theoretically wanting two tickets or someone wanting one ticket to get what he/ she wants. You know what I mean? And I know $200 is way out there, but I just picked that arbitrarily because thats what I saw the auction for another Seattle ticket was at. I didn't make that my reserve or anything.

Zoid - Really in the end I put the tickets up at face value and so where it goes from there is entirely up to the fans. Is it fair that I was lucky enough to get my ticket for 9 dollars while other people now have to pay more to get tickets? No its not, but if you think it gets to a point where it is so unfair then you just don't have to bid on it, its that simple. It is entirely up to people who want to see the movie how much the tickets go for. For a fan out there it could be worth it to them to spend however much money, so what do you care.

I also don't appreciate you implying like this money is going to some luxury like a limo. My friend is a loyal browncoat, a better one than I, but she lives in New York and was shut out of the Boston screening. But she was willing to pay a large price to fly across the country to come to Seattle and see it. So I think that if someone else is willing to pay a similarly large sum of money and split the cost of going with her then that is perfectly fair.

I certainly didn't buy extra tickets with the intention of scalping, but that's beside the point and I think it is stupid that I feel like I should have to defend myself to you.

SOUPCATCHER - Yeah I totally understand your point. I see random people come around at other places for the first time and try to sell things or advertise stuff, and I guess I resent them and am annoyed by them, so I do understand. I guess my point is just that wasn't my intention at all. I regret posting this here because of that, for sure. But at this point, here at least, I don't care about the auction and I just feel like I am defending my honor against Zoid who attacked me assuming the worst things possible about my character.

I guess everyone is a bit wary of newcomers now that we know there are some people portraying themselves as Browncoats and shitting in the sandbox that all of us like to play in. Plus everyone knows that the tickets sold out in a few hours, so if anyone bought them and bought extra without meaning to use them themselves, that just screams "scalper". It's like why get extra, meaning you took away tickets that could have gone to other fans at the regular price, and now they have to finance your friend's trip in order to have the privilege of going when you had the privilege at just 10 bucks ? You'd have to have realized that that is gonna cause resentment from some people.

I'm from NY and got shut out of the Boston Screening too! Look, I went to your profile and basically all your posts have been about your auctions. You never even introduced yourself. I don't even know what gender you are. hee hee. Your profile has no info about you. So you could be a terrifying space monkey ! Are you a terrifying space monkey ?

mshecubaisevil:

Wanna know the honorable thing? Tell you're friend you'll hock your iPod and send her the money, but that she's gotta find the rest herself. Then call your local Big Brothers/Big Sisters and donate all your spare tickets to them. Failing that, take the tickets with you to the theatre and then give them away to the neediest people you see standing around. It'll be good for your soul, I promise.

Now, go ahead and do what you're gonna do anyway.

Finally,

zoid

P.S.
I live thousands of miles from Seattle, and at least 500 away from any of the other cities (meaning I couldn't possibly profit by you giving them away). And you wanna know what? I can wait 'til Christmas morning to open my presents...
