With SERENITY set for it's cinema release on 30th September this year, we have to do everything that we can to help raise awareness of this film.

FHM is currently conducting its readers poll for the sexiest ladies. You'd be surprised how much PR a good showing for an actress in that poll can generate. A good showing in that poll for Morena, Summer, Jewel & Gina would help to greatly promote the forthcoming film and maintain Universals cofidence.

Not sure that a soft core porn mag is exactly our target audience, but then there's no such thing as bad publicity, right? heh heh. I voted.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Cast my vote!

You're right that anything we can do to raise awareness of the BDM we should do to get the word out.

SeanHarry:

I'd love to play, but I'm gonna have to pass. While it's true they don't have even one of our beauties in their dubious preselected list (the Olsen twins?! WTF!?!) and I'd like to increase their visibility, I see this as only a way of generating more spam.

This is clearly only intended to generate lists of email addresses to sell to their advertisers. Who knows what becomes of such a list? Thanks, but no thanks...

Of course we should vote for our fine ladies on this poll! I mean, you aren't suggesting that we wouldn't like to gaze upon their beauty in non-Firefly form, are you?

The magazine in question is owned by a large UK publisher - the list should not be sold for spam.

They publish a yearly 'sexy' list, and have done this for years - long before they introduced online voting. How this is 'clearly only intended to generate lists of email addresses' I do not know - I think you're forgetting this is a business website, not a scam site.

Then why do they require a valid email? I certainly recognize them as a business website.

I didn't say, 'Nobody should take part in this web poll'. If you're comfortable with giving out your email address under such circumstances, by all means do.

Well yes, zoid, this is obviously a good thing to do (I managed antispam protection for a company).

Sorry if I came across as a bit offensive, I wasn't meaning to be.

They're collecting the email addresses of those voters to try and spot vote rigging - whenever you run something like this, you end up with 100 Britney Spears fans trying to register ten million votes by sitting and refreshing the vote page. Of course, quite how an email address will help I don't know, but they seem to think it will.

Oh, goodie! An opportunity to digress! (In my inimitable way...)

Since we're talking about Firefly and foxes, everybody should be using Firefox as a web browser. (Pretty cunning, huh?) Apart from the fact that it does tabbed browsing, has many very useful plugins and is free source (Mozilla), it also does a proper job of blocking popups; not permitting those of their advertising partners to leak through...

Promotionally,

zoid

They require a valid e-mail address so that folks like me can't spam them with hundreds of requests for Morena Baccarin. Dammit.

Put down all four of our talented FBDHs and added Christina Hendricks to the mix. (It's for times like this that I have a separate spam-only e-mail address).

And then I thought, what the hell, and added in the rest of our BDHs .

And, on a side note, Firefox rocks. The main reason I keep IE around is to check how my web pages look.
