BLACKOUTNIGHTS

I use this board at times to help get me into the flow of writing on particularly difficult days. I don't revise, so what you're getting is the rough draft. These aren't necessarily meant to be read, but if feel free if you want. Makes no difference to me.

The Privateer

Life would be a lot easier if I wasn't wanted by the Alliance for treason. But it's not as if I had a choice. After witnessing some of the things that they were tinkering with, I could no longer support the unified front.

I was stationed at a satellite orbiting around a star on the far side of Orion. If you start at the top of the constellation and count down three to the left, that would be the one. They called their prisoners 'the chosen', but I like to call them victims because most ended up in a body bag after the doctors changed their genetic code too much.

"Just make sure they are in their cells and keep them from escaping." That's what they told me. But no one had a chance of that. Everyone was locked-up tight. The only way to get out was if someone helped them from the inside. So that's what I did.

Parabola was fairly happy to be accepted to the station and was welcomed with open arms. At first, she always smiled whenever I passed her cell. Then her attitude changed. She became darker, more remote. No longer did she cheerily greet me as I walked past the small quarters that was her home. When she asked me to help her escape, I readily accepted.

BlackoutNights:

So... What's up with the Parabola story arc?

(Sorry. I just couldn't resist the pun.)
