So SFX magazine gives 3-1 odds that Serenity will go straight to DVD, here in the UK.

What's that about?

That's very odd, considering that Firefly did very well on TV there if I recall correctly.

Could be they are just stupid. Which would fit in with... just about everything else I hear about SFX magazine. Don't know, myself :).

Any of your local betting shops taking money on those odds? 'Cause I'll bet the house on a theatrical release, and sleep well for fleecing fools...

SFX has been bigging Serenity/Firefly up for months. I just dont understand why they would suddenly come out with this. I just hope they dont know something we dont...

I would hazard a guess that SFX is taking the piss. I wouldn't read anything into it. Serenity will get released in the UK, I'm sure of it.

Release date for the Netherlands is 5-5-05. You could always ferry over from Harwich...

That is just not going to happen, because...it's not. Our movie will be such a hit here that all of Europe will be dying to see what is causing such a fuss in the states. Besides, it is just too pretty for God to let it go straight to DVD.

I was also surprised at SFX, because they have been big fans of Firefly since it first aired.

I think they are worried that cinema companies over here may be unsure of how big Serenity will be, given that it is likely to be released soon after Star Wars, and they may not want to risk losing money on it, on the basis that they think sci-fi fans will only see one sci-fi movie in a year, and that will be Star Wars. That's why SFX may think that Serenity will not get a theatrical release over here.
