Been a while since I checked the Amazon stats. 980 reviews and still a 5 star average!! Pretty amazing and yet not surprising to us Browncoats. This is getting into the blockbuster movie range (totally blows away most television DVDs).

Hmm...there seems to be well over 2000 members on the new official Serenity site. Now if everyone posted a review....

Oh, and play Cantr II at www.cantr.net.

Fun with numbers!

As of 980 total reviews, they break down as follows:

1-Star: 14
2-Star: 5
3-Star: 8
4-Star: 28
5-Star: 925

Doing some quick (and possibly incorrect, FAIK) math, the rating is currently at 4.88 (which Amazon rounds up to 5). In order for the rating to dip below 5-Star to 4.5-Star, the next 100 (or thereabouts) reviews, 981-1080, would all have to be 1-Star. And if one assumes that everyone who reviews from now on has an "ah, nothing too horrendous but not great" attitude to our BDTVS and gives it 3-Stars, it would take 250 reviews to get to 4.5.

Those are five Big Damn Stars!

No problem. Go to the amazon page for the firefly dvds. (you'll have to paste the next two lines together - didn't want to make the message too wide):
http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B0000AQS0F/
qid=1087029439/sr=1-1/ref=sr_1_1/002-3444583-5713627?v=glance&s=dvd
Scroll down about halfway and there is a heading 'All Customer Reviews'. Right below that there is a link, 'Write an online review and share your thoughts with other customers.' You'll have to be logged in to an amazon account and then the rest should be straight-forward.

Good luck with spreading the word!

but it still doesn't help when some muppet proclaims it to be one of the best shows ever, criticises fox for being a bunch of mongtards for cancelling it so early, and then only gives it 3 out of 5. muppet.

anyway, i've just posted up a review myself. does that make me a real browncoat now?

Muppet. I love it! I was a bit confused by that review myself. And you already were a real browncoat, eviltobz. All the amazon review did was get you a few months taken off for good behavior in the event you end up in that special hell.

Nice fun with numbers, valheru. Pretty cool. You inspired me to try to bring some context to the whole amazon rating for firefly discussion. Here's the DVDs from the Top Sellers on amazon and their reviews (eliminating the ones that have not been released yet).

1. The Simpsons - The Complete Fourth Season (1992) - 4.5 stars - 129 reviews
2. Badder Santa (Unrated Widescreen Edition) (2003) - 4 stars - 100 reviews
3. The Lord of the Rings - The Return of the King (Widescreen Edition) (2003) - 4.5 stars - 879 reviews
6. Nip/Tuck - The Complete First Season - 4.5 stars - 23 reviews
7. Secret Window (2004) - 4 stars - 129 reviews
9. Sex and the City - Season Six, Part 1 (2003) - 3.5 stars - 110 reviews
10. Buffy The Vampire Slayer - The Complete Sixth Season (2001) - 4.5 stars - 280 reviews
12. Curb Your Enthusiasm - The Complete Second Season (2000) - 4.5 stars - 20 reviews
13. Elvis - The '68 Comeback Special (Deluxe Edition DVD) - 5 stars - 30 reviews
15. Elvis - Aloha from Hawaii (Deluxe Edition DVD) (1973) - 4.5 stars - 70 reviews
16. Chappelle's Show - Season 1 (2003) - 4.5 stars - 129 reviews
17. Mystic River - Special 3-Disc Edition (2003) - 4 stars - 230 reviews
21. The Last Samurai (Widescreen Edition) (2003) - 4 stars - 405 reviews
22. Blue Collar Comedy Tour: The Movie (2003) - 5 stars - 128 reviews
25. The West Wing - The Complete Second Season - 5 stars - 34 reviews

And, of course,

87. Firefly - The Complete Series - 5 stars - 988 reviews

Apologies for bumping my own post , but the DVD sets now have over a 1000 reviews on Amazon. Still got that 5 star rating. I know it's a pipe dream, but I'd love for some Fox executive to issue a press release saying, "Oops."

Wow, that's awesome. That HAS to get someone's attention, but of course SALES of the DVD set will do even more. Money talks. (And yes, mine is one of the 1,000+ reviews).
