Last night on TCM they showed White Heat. The movie is generally regarded as one of the best gangster movies ever made, and it's one of Cagney's best performances.

The movie begins with Cody Jarrets' (Cagney) mob robbing a train carrying US Treasury notes. Cagney has two men already aboard the train. Cagney himself is standing on top of a mountain overpass, and when the train comes through he jumps down on it, just like BDH Jayne did. Then they meet up, stop the train by shooting two conductors, and make off with the loot. I wonder if Joss or Tim were influenced at all by this movie when they wrote Train Job.
