Anyone Firefly LARPing? There are hats, costumes, patches, RP games already going, fanfics, and scripts and stuff already - just need some equipment to get started.

I haven't actually started to LARP with Firefly but I have written up rules similar to White Wolf's and the Buffy RPG. They seem pretty solid and will eventually post them so every one can tear them apart.

I was just daydreaming about this yesterday...I've run a low-tech sci-fi LARP myself once, and based on that, I'd say Firefly would work quite well. The outdoors scenery's easy to replicate, though it sure would be nice to be able to have some deck-platish interiors...

I don't know if you'd envision a combat LARP or not, but we found Laser Tag style equipment to work passably well for a low-tech sci-fi LARP. Might not work so well for the firearm-style combats in Firefly (better for lasers).

I'm in the New Jersey area, and I'd definitely be interested.

Well, um...it's a big, big thing to set up, really. Lots o' work, in my experience. I've got a bag or two of laser tag type stuff and some props for a generic sci-fi LARP, plus some work on a game system, but that's about it.

We'd need land and people to make it happen. And need to be in the same place (for me, that'd be the Delaware/Philly/New Jersey area).

But it would be a great thing to do! Meanwhile, I'm going back to my Neverwinter Nights Firefly work, which is a bit more modest :)

I would love to help set up a LARP. I have set up 3 fantasy LARPS while in college and they are a lot of work. I have a basic rule system that could easily be adapted to any sort of style of play. Also land and people are an issue and once that is figured on I can spin out a plot line with out a problem. If any one is really interested in doing this I'll start working on Plot, Characters, and rules if some one else can help with props, land( area) and gather people.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

A Firefly LARP? That sounds like a lot of fun. I have never been in a LARP before, but have seen a couple that people taped while they ran them. They looked interesting.

Where are you located and will you be taping the LARP? It would be cool if you taped and posted a link for all us Browncoats to enjoy.

If land is a problem, a simple solution is to write the script for the LARP to be a "Shindig" type enviroment and then have the LARP at a hotel which can rent out a Ballroom for a reasonable price depending on the Hotel.

I have written a RPG for Firefly that can be adapted to LARP if neccessary. My sit down version of this Firefly game will be previewed at "A Gazebo of Games" ( www.wildgazebo.com for details) May 1st. Then I will be running a weekend full of Firefly games at this years GenCon in Indy, schedueled for August.

"Whoa, good Bible."

A "Shindig" Plot is a great Idea, really saves on finding a place and on a lot of background props. My other concern is every one would want to play a main character...it is hard to find a polite way to say no. I would like to get 5-9 people to help run the LARP that those people could play the main characters to help advance the plot. I will start another thread to see who might actually be interested. Any other ideas or catch's please post them and let me know
