if firefly came back i pray joss writes it as prequel to the movie because there is so much potential to sheperd and wash"s stories would love to find out what sheperd was all about

That may be the way to return some of the characters to TV. See Book's history. What has he been keeping a secret. What made him become a shepard. And there is always Jayne. He must have a colorful past.

I don't see Joss actually going back to Serenity. There was only a few months between the end of the series and the beginning of the movie.

We actually never learn why Book left Serenity unless he felt the people of Haven needed him more than the crew of Serenity.
