As a review of high school literature class, we know that when an author names a character with the intitials J.C. it is an allegory to Jesus Christ. Very common in literature, but also present in film.
So when watching Terminator for the first time, when we find that Kyle's friend is John Connor, we know that he is the savior of the human race, and all his crew, like Kyle, are the good guys, and the cops are the bad guys, plus Ahnold, and when we eventually find that Sarah is the mom, then she is good, too - effectively the Virgin Mary (since many in the film don't think Kyle exists).
And when seeing The Green Mile, when the name John Coffey is given, we know that this convicted child molestor double murderer is actually falsely accused and convicted, and will die by the hand of human society for another man's sins.

So when checking our BDH for the saint, we find JAYNE COBB?!?!?!
Was Joss just messing with our heads, or am I missing something?

Sometimes a Cobb is just a Cobb. On the other hand he was the Mudder Messiah so maybe....

Who knows what he had in store for us if it weren't for F()X. I guess time will tell. I'll console myself tonight by watching a few episodes of my favorite tv show!

Perhaps Joss was recalling Saint Thomas of Assini, who obtained the graces of the Monestary to briefly revert to his previous occupation as murdering gunslinger, to rid the town of Assini of it's murdering bullies, and then return to his monastic duties and persona.
