Personally I've been unable to find any reliable information about how Firefly DVDs are doing at all. If the information has been released, I'm afraid it's not staggering enough to make it newsworthy. If they sold a whole lot of them, I'm sure Universal would have made a big publicity statement. Conversely if they sold poorly, I'm sure there would have been critics who would bring that up and make a big stink about it just to be mean, or perhaps Fox would have had it leaked so as to assure people when they cancelled the show they did the right thing.

Since neither of those extremes have happened, I'm assuming the DVDs sold satisfactorily well, but not any better than any other average four pack of dvds about anything might sell. This means the certainty of the movie is as much up in the air as it has always been.

We're still in the dark about it. I'm hoping that will change this month, as one way or the other, preproduction for Firefly the Movie has to either go into production or Whedon's script gets rejected by Universal or something has to happen.

We're fast approaching go no go for launch here. A lot was riding on the success of the DVDs.

Billboard released their Top 40 for the week that Firefly was released, and it didn't make the list. However, most of us believe it's because Fox thoroughly underestimated demand for the DVDs and didn't replicate and distribute enough copies to match the demand.

Proof of this comes from the fact that the DVDs have been sold out in many many stores, and the fact that Firefly has been constantly high on the Amazon list. Which would partially caused by people that can't find the DVD at their local retailers resorting to Amazon.

Also the Billboard Top 40 takes into account copies purchased for rent, but no national rental chains are offering Firefly (yet).

Family Guy Season 3

oh and if it means anythin to anyone Joss the new buffy season is on their best seller list so Joss has two of the best selling DVD's on amazon.com at the moment.

If someone has come up with something as good as buffy, and angel, you dont just bag his show after the first season. Fox gave him 32m to make 11 hours of firefly. So he made 11 hours of GREAT Tv using less then the average budget of a 90 minute feature film... sigh joss is god.
