chuckles. Hadn't seen it mentioned but I thought it was kinda neet. Wash finds a part in Ariel while there in the junkyard and tosses it, hitting the old junked ambulance. If you look it's the part that they would later be needing in out of gas.

According to the show's chronology, the events in "Out of Gas" happen BEFORE "Ariel." Therefore, the part that Wash tosses would be useless...after-the-fact. I found it to be another amusing Wash moment, like "Lookee what I found! We wouldn't have nearly suffocated to death had we been in possession of this little engine part. Oh well." *tosses it away*

Good catch on your part though. Anyone else notice links between episodes (besides the usual dialogue foreshadowing/recalling, etc.)?
