Do you think a video game would go down well? The first level could be the battle of Serenity valley and then moving on to doing jobs for money. It could be a free play game like Grand Theft Auto and you could have encounters with random Aliiance patrols or Reavers.

The Battle of Serenity Valley might be the intro to the game, while the following gameplay would be similar to games like Elite, Privateer 1 & 2, or FreeLancer, where you can travel to different systems with cargo, hire wingmen, and generally persue any means of acquiring wealth. Firefly would have to expand on those games by letting the player have character mobility while planetside. Gameplay would have to be based on a random envronment, so that if you restarted the game 5 times, it would be different each time, even if you took the same travel route. If the game were done right, it could be massively awesome, if not, it would still be awesome! 'cause come on, Firefly the Game!

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

I think a Firefly game would be cool, if done by the right people and with the right minds behind it. You could have the original cast do the voices, and use footage from the series for the cinematics.

I agree that character control planetside would be a must and the game should be as interactive as possible.

It is fun to consider the possibility, but alas I think it a pipe dream.

I did a board game once upon a time long ago in the east... I kinda liked it but could never get people to test it with me. Never really got the cards (it had cards) going that well either, not enough for a production run at least. Might try to drag out the board and see if I can find it again.

Booyah!

SOMEBODY else remembers Privateer and also associates it with Firefly.. finally.

I was beginnin to think I was the only one who ever felt that connection.

Part of the reason Firefly originally attracted me was an "essence of similarity" with the original Privateer.

Being chased by a pissed off Steltek drone is NO fun at all, really it ain't..

Same here, the ability to go out into the universe and make something of yourself, even if that something isn't necessarily a hero, but an antihero, or an infamous hero at best. A "Rob from the rich, and sell to the poor..." attitude would get you far in the world of Firefly, and so it was in Privateer, just so long as you operated under the Confed/CIS/Alliance radar.

By the way, does anybody know how to fix the double-posting problem? I seem to be doing that now, but when I first posted on this site, it didn't do it.

Heh, heh, heh, Shaft the 'Feddies and their militia friends, when I am rollin into Troy with 200+ cases of ultimate in the back o me Galaxy and packin Fusion Cannon backed with Torps all I am thinkin bout is the payday, and if they wanna start somethin, I be endin it for em quicklike...

I loooved how you could be a bad guy, and the game didn't penalize you for it (other than the obvious stuff...)

The settlers that kidnapped Simon and River kinda remind me of the Retros, too - guys we LOVED to hate in Priv.

HKCAVALIER

Firefly has always reminded me of a japanese RPG in it's subject matter, euro-asian context and the depth of interpersonal relationships, shipboard and landbased adventures. The only thing holding it back is utter lack of aliens and the paranormal (that and Kaylee doesn't have powder blue hair).

I think the game should recreate the backstory of how Mal acquires his team one by one, with a side quest from Book's point of view, revealing his past or at least a cool action sequence as he escapes from his enemies...

Hey, hey, hey, don't be mean. We don't have to be mean, because, remember, no matter where you go, there you are.
