Yes...I am that Sean Kennedy.

Ever have one of those days....?

Last week I ordered The "Firefly: Official Companion Volume 2"
http://www.amazon.com/Firefly-Official-Companion-Joss-Whedon/dp/184576
3726/ref=pd_bbs_sr_3/104-9425036-6763128?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1182910883&sr=8-3

I got it yesterday and was thumbing through, when lo and behold, what do I find on page 36...The 3D images of Serenity I posted on the Lightwave Forums back in August of 2004....

The first thing I thought, "WOW! They used my images in an Official Firefly book!! Cool!!!!"

The second thing I thought, "But wait... there's no credit anywhere that I made them....Drat!!"

I'm not sure whether to be happy or sad.... I really feel honored that they fely my images were good enough for the book, but it would have been great if they would have acknowleged my contribution to the Firefly/Browncoat world....

So I'm torn....Do I call the publisher and ask them to correct the oversight in the next printing? I'm not really looking to sue anyone or make money off this, but I did build that version of the mesh and created the images.

Or should I just be happy I wasn't sued by Zoic or Fox for creating such an acccurate recreateion of the Firefly mesh?

Good Grief! I've become public domain....

First of all, I am glad for the quality of work so good that it is in the official book. On the other hand, I am not sure if publishers would've picked up images from forum to print in the book.

Are you 100% sure that these are your images? (I personally do not doubt your judgment or quality of work and since u have posted them here, I am pretty sure that you are sure! )

I'd call the publisher and just ask the source of these images and then show them that I created and it'd be nice if they can credit me, otherwise it is okay.

Good luck!

Wasn't The Traybor a bad guy on a Buck Rogers episode? I believe he was played by legendary B movie bad-boy actor William Smith, and he ruled as sort of a warlord over the planet Katan's citizens....that is until Buck defeated him.

As long as you are sure that the images are the same ones that you created I would contact the publisher. Explain to them that you are not looking for money or to take action against them but you would just like to be acknowledged.

I don't think that they will want to take action against you for creating the image. It's original composition not a straight copy of an existing image or model. You haven't ripped off someone elses work so I can't see it as a problem.
