Frist off i apologise for the pun, if it's not apparent yet it shall be at the end up my typing.

Last night i started reading The Promise Of The Witch-King by R.A. Salvatore, and then i rememembered he had written some star wars books as well.

So the thought came to me, could the verse continue in a book format? i know we have the comic books but i think books would be good especially if they were written by someone talented enough.

I may not be the first to post this idea but i thought id throw this out there.

Let me know what you think, or if this has already been suggested and shotdown.

Thanks,

Shukes

First off, welcome Shukes.

No wories on puns, we do it all the time.

Unfortunately, The Joss has stated on the record (I want to say it was during his fanboyradio.com interview a few months back) that there would be no Serenifly novels.

I'm off to find a linky-dink to back this up. One moment, please.
edit: I'm only finding the first half of the interview. Anyone else got it? And yes, it was in the fanboyradio.com interview.

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Welcome Shukes.

No doubt Joss has his reasons for saying "no Serenity novels" and as he is not too forthcoming with why we can only speculate. Either it is because he doesn't trust anyone to write them but himself and he is too busy to write them, or he only wants to tell the story in a non novel format. He did write the comic mini series "Those Left Behind" and has another mini "Better Days" coming out this year.

Steve Brust wrote a novel he submitted to Pocket Books which was not approved by Joss over a year ago. Steve says in his blog that he has finished the final "polish" on it and is looking into posting it online as a "fan fic". We should have more news on that as we find out. Keep checking back.

Thanks for filling me in on this, saves alot of wondering and pondering, that was the one thing i kept thinking, how would joss be involved, writing them seemed impractical but then on the other hand who else could tell the stories?

I guess i'll just have to go but those comics from somewhere, any suggestions as to where i might find them?

Shukes, my local comic store still has the original comics on the shelf. They also have the trade paperback which compiles all three issues. If your local store does not have them, here are a couple of places online:

The last link to Dark Horse Comics pages has a bunch of Serenity goodies at the bottom including the comics, the Serenity ornament, a lighter, and a pre-order for the lunch box and pvc figures.

My guess, it is about control.
And knowing that the Joss is a control enthusiast, may explain it.
I would very much like to read stories from the 'verse, but under Joss's executetiveliness.

Well considering Buffy season 8 is on sale right now, and Angel season 6 is in the works (I hear) I'd be very surprised if Joss doesn't gift us all with a Firefly season two sometime in the future. I imagine he just wants to explore every other chance first.
