A while back a group of Browncoats got together through the internet and decided that they needed more Firefly. "Into the Black was born on that day. This is in no way like "Into the Black" [unless you count that it's based in the Firefly verse, or that it has a new crew, or... ok it has somethings in common].

Much like “Into the Black” we have an entirely new crew, but we’re a little different in that our ship is a Firefly. We have dubbed the name of our film and project “Redemption”. We found it to have a kind of double meaning as it applies to both our Main Character and “Firefly” the series. I can’t tell you too much about the story without giving you too much of the back story, but I can tell you that we have spent a lot of time developing our characters and story so that the characters have as close to the depth of Joss’s characters as we could get. The story takes place in our own world in the canon of the show. The crew is the original crew of the ‘Serenity’ before it became ‘Serenity’, this is the story of what happened to the original crew before Mal bought the Firefly in the shipyard. We have a few large story arcs planned, but if we can’t tell those stories in video form we have plans to write them out and just post them online.

The Characters are, without giving too much away:

Will Hawkins: Ex-Alliance Captain. He was discharged dishonorably and now lives on the rim for unknown reasons.

Amy Frost: Childhood friend of Will. She was one of the best in her class at flight school and was flying ambulances on Ariel, her home planet. She dropped everything to follow Will to the Rim.

Damsel Arce: A former Browncoat that grew disinterested with both sides of the war and defected to live her own life. She’s a skilled warrior.

Emiline Choi: The doctor from the Core that has a very complicated past.

Zekk: A mysterious rimworlder and skilled killer.

Joss Farrell: A genius mechanic and computer hacker.

We have a couple websites that have information them. One has a lot of back story on it with a lot of spoilers of the story arcs, so be careful in the writing forums if you to them.

Firestalker I liked the teaser script you have up. Good stuff so far. Can't wait to see where all of your work and effort takes this project.

How long before Firefly does this story take place?

Wow... I thought a lot more people would interested in this.

@Browncoat1: We haven't really discussed that part, but generally thinking.... we were thinking about 4-5 years before.

The Pilot episode of Firefly starts at the end of the war and that's where our crew is. The war is fresh, over, but fresh. Tension is high.

Mal didn't get the ship until at least a year before the start of the series. So there is plenty of room for our crew to have adventures.

I would not worry too much about the lack of responses Firestalker. There has been a bunch of threads in the past 4 years talking about fan films and all, but many just kind of fell off the radar. I would think people are just skeptical is all. We are browncoats after all.
