Ok so sept 30th is coming up fast, and i really want to do something big, (other than buying the dvd, new books and film again! of course.)

My plan is such, i am going to send a letter to all the dvd and book selling shops (HMV/Virgin/whsmith etc not afraid to tackle the big ones. after all the manager of each is responsable for ideas in there store!) in my town, the next one over, and as many as i can reach. Maybe even through london! Informing them of the day, sugesting that they could make a promotion out of the anniversary. buy the series and film together for a discount or some such. Plus theres always the promotion of the new book coming out that day! which they could tie in with.
Included in the letter prehaps a couple of 11th hour (or others) posters. show them how easy it can be, tempt them with the idea that it could get press coverage, and bring in the money for them. after all money talks in the bussiness world.
If getting them to promote it wont work, im going to at least ask local shops to put up a poster!

Hey if they laugh in my face they do, but at least i would have tried.

If lots of people tried this, and/ or one of the big shopping chains pick up on it and run... well the possiablies are endless.

"Why did you leave?".... "Why didn't you ask me not too?"

Interesting little plan you have there PurplePebble. Not too sure how sucessful it could be but 'if you dont ask you dont get'.

A lot of the larger shops will have promotions which they will run throught all of the stores. With places like HMV many of the promotional decissions are made at head office. When i used to work there many moons ago (correct me if im wrong) i dont think the managers had much to do with promotional campaigns apart from ordering and displaying the stock. I dont know if this has changed since. mabye if 'Serenity' is (at the time) in a store promotion they could put up a 'manager recommends' sign. I know several shops like Borders do this from time to time as a way to draw customers to something they may of not concidered buying during an impulsive spending spree. With the larger shops it may be best to contact their head offices initially do find out what is or isnt doable.

Good idea to tie in a promotion with the book, if a DVD/Book shop has the book on their new releases it couldnt hurt to tell the public about the series and film. Mabye if they put copies of the DVD near the tills that could encourage impulse buying.

Whatever way you decide to approach your plan i raise a glass of Mudders Milk and toast you for luck.

*Toasts PurplePebble, then passes out*.

'Poor little thing. Never even saw the light of day, now its in showbusiness!'
