CIVIC1

Hey everyone, I just posted an email on Firefly Talk and I may sound like a broken record, at the same time, I don't want to be rude to any of you, but...I love the fact that we can chat about this show we love so much, but is that helping any to bring it back? Is someone actually trying to bring it back and talk to the "powers that be" to bring Firefly to the network. Let's all just think of this...imagine Joss did bring the show back, new series and all, we wouldn't have to chat about the old episodes, not to say they were boring, ABSOLUTELY NOT! But it would be exciting to chat about a new episode we just saw the night before and talk about it amongst each other the following day! THAT'S WHAT I'M LOOKING FORWARD TO...WHEN WE CAN GET THE ACTORS WE LOVE TO PLAY THOSE CHARACTERS WE DO LOVE AGAIN! No other actors can play these roles like they can. Also, I believe Serenity was a conclusion to the Firefly series and it SHOULD NOT TIE IT with the series because they killed off Wash and Book. It should take place right after "Objects In Space" which I believe was the last episode. This is CIVIC1, signing out. I'd really love it if all of us were to do something about it. Thanks for listening.

BROWNCOAT1

May have been the losing side. Still not convinced it was the wrong one.

Civic1,

You do not sound like a broken record, in fact I would dare say you are voicing the hopes of every browncoat here when you say you would love to see Firefly back on the small screen. I know I for one would very much enjoy a return of the series and the chance to discuss new episodes and the adventures of our favorite crew.

Do not doubt for a moment that nearly every browncoat on this site is out there almost every day doing something to further the goal of some sort of continuance of our 'verse. We are introducing the show to new people, using guerilla marketing tactics, posting fliers, loaning dvds, posting links on other sites, etc. A lot of us have been doing this since 2002, so there is a core of veterans in this effort.

The issue here is money. The movie did not do as well as Universal wanted. We simply did not get enough butts in seats. That hurt us badly. So we are now focusing our efforts on promoting the special Hell out of the movie DVD. If it sells and rents well, we may have some hope of some sort of future. What form that will take is up to Joss and the powers that be. Joss is fairly busy now with Wonder Woman and other projects. His being tied up has kept him from approving the novel proposals from several authors submitted to Pocket Books, which has effectively stalled efforts for the release of a line of paperbacks. It has also effectively stalled the approval process of Serenity RPG products.

You see this effort requires a concentrated effort from the fans and the creator. I am not saying Joss is not doing his part, only that he is currently busy elsewhere. That doesn't mean we give up, only that we have to be patient and resolved in our continuing efforts.

I appreciate your enthusiasm, and share it as many here do, but we have to focus that energy into spreading the word. That is where any future for the show lies, in expanding the fan base. The more fans we have clamoring for something new, the better our odds of getting it continued in some form or another.

Take care. Keep spreading the word and keep flyin'!

"No power in the 'verse can stop me!"

I have a dream that one day I will be able to watch new episodes and talk with my friends all over the world about it and find out so many answers to all my questions... Joss had a 7 year plan and he only got to do about half of one year...

I do believe that this awesome site is doing it's bit to not only nurture new fans, but to keep the fire burning in each of us who loves the 'Verse and it's BDHs! There's a thread somewhere here about ideas for publicity stunts to draw attention to our passion and the reasons for it...

I love meeting and greetin each new browncoat 'coz it's just a couple of months ago that I was a fresh newbie, and now I have friends with something in common - we're intelligent, have a terrific sense of humour and recognise genious when we see it... ie: Firefly in motion!

I guess it's like Mal says: "You hold! Hold 'til I come back!"

Thank you for your reply and reassuring people such as myself that something is being done. I had no idea Joss was the one working on Wonder Woman and I certainly would love to see Morena Baccarin play that part, I mean, who else is perfect for that role?
I'm glad to hear that the fanbase is spreading, not just in the US, but all over the world. It was orignally a good friend of mine who turned me on to Firefly and for that, I am truly grateful. I certainly will do my part by spreading the "gospel" of Firefly to everyone.
Civic1 out.
