London Film and Comic Con 2006 - UK Browncoats Table Report
Darn computer, had to relist myself again! Oh well, this is a near-transcript from the UK Browncoats board (linked below) but anyhow, I just wanted to let all you groovy guys know that the trade stand/fantable area went extremely well... it was well worth the 5 hours sleep the week before putting all the graphics, banners and merchandise together! Luckily we covered our costs and so instead of the usual 'at least 40% of profits' going to charity, we decided to donate 100% of all profits (including all new stock items made and bought for separately) to Equality Now and so we are pleased to announce that a grand total of US$2,018 was raised in only 2 days at the London Film and Comic Convention!

Aside from the cash raised and meeting loads of UK and overseas Browncoats (how many said hello from this forum?) we had many favourable comments from fellow dealers, several of the guests and many attendees - so with these new contacts we can now look forward to hopefully working with the likes of UK magazines including SFX, Cult Times, Prop Store London, FireflyTalk, SendingAWave and others with promoting Firefly and raising loads of cash for an awesome cause.... but we still need lots of help!

The website below includes a link to all this text again and also a very brief graphic/jpeg 'open letter' to the community that (assuming you can read it - damn the resize tool!) quickly outlines what happened over the weekend and who was responsible for keeping us sane and being so generous. As it says in the note, we'll be uploading lots of pics of our pal Alan Tudyk larking about on the stand and interacting with the fans, including him posing with one of our shirts that he chose to wear on the Sunday, along with details of all the raffle and prize winners he drew out - although everyone should have been notified by now.

The best thing was, he didn't know we were going to be there, but still packed his 'Boat' Serenity shirt we gave him a few months back and wore it on the weekend! That dude has taste!
; )

I can also confirm that for anyone who played the LEGO Reavers competition, the total amount of poor fellas to meet a grizzly end in the jar was 127 in total - so hard luck if you were way out on that one!

So thanks for everyone who said hello, bought a raffle ticket, guessed the LEGO men in the jar, liked our merchandise, bought a limited edition coaster set, posters, or made a bid on a rare and exclusive auction item - you all helped us to raise a shed load of cash for Equality Now. We're looking to present a cheque to them in London soon made out in the name of UK Browncoats and hopefully they will make sure Mr Whedon knows how lovely we all are over here in the UK and that we're catching up with the US in terms of supporting Equality Now!!!!

Finally, thanks once again to all the auction donors from all over the world in fact... we really are the best fan community around in my opinion with the best cast and crew - and this last weekend just proved that more than ever. Please tell everyone you see that Firefly fandom rules!!!!!!!!!!

See y'all in the 'Verse.

Steve

PS: If anyone took some pics of Alan on the stands or any of when Nate said hello to us, please send them into us for a nice reward! Similarly, it's not too late to sign up for our 'Now You're Stalking' competition - a fun and easy way to get some nice Firefly goodies just for sending in some themed photos. Check out the site for details.

hey guys well done your stall was the best,
I've got a short video, of alan drawing the raffle, if you would like it i'd be happy to send it over. It was only taken on my phone so obviously not the best quality in pic or sound, by who knows you might be able to do something with it.

Thanks for the nice comments guys - our mission is still simple: raise the awareness of Firefly, get cash for charity and help Browncoats worldwide look as cool as they deserve to be!

If anyone still wants to register for our FREE photo challenge running through 2006, there's still time to join up - email fireflystore@hotmail.com or visit the site for details... and you too could be the owner of an exclusive shirt, earn rare merchandise and signed items from the Big Damn Heroes. Afterwards we're also looking to send everyone's pics (with their permission) on a disc to the relevant cast members following a few requests they've made!

Stay shiny.

Steve

SOME ADDITIONAL PHOTOS FROM THE WEEKEND...

Hiya everyone. Here are a few photos from the stand and the weekend for you to look at - and it can't be understated how cool Alan Tudyk is, giving up so much of his time helping us out (there was only 2 of us on the stands), larking about, interacting with the fans and being such an awesome fella. Never mind that he coincidentally decided to wear one of our shirts over the weekend (without bribery LOL) - he really helped shift some more tickets of the raffle and the bids for the auction items with his appearance/performance!

Anyhow, here are a few pics taken by us and a few from people* who have entered our website 'Now You're Stalking' photo challenge (posted above) - thanks for sending them in guys!

The above photos are taken from our 'Famous Models' collection and these guys along with all the fans who are so great at being friendly, supportive, raising money for charity and generally being lovely.... confirms to me every day that Firefly Fandom really is the best!!!!!!!

Take care and see you in the 'Verse.

First, a big 'hi' to everyone. I first lurked on the board when I was first getting in to Firefly, and haven't been around for some time what with uni, work et al keeping me busy...but since the Con I've rechecking some of my old haunts. I'd forgotten what an amazing camaraderie exists on some sites...and this one in particular, of course ;)

Anyways, PurplePebble, I was the monkey lucky enough to win the Browncoats satchel on the raffle, but as I've literally never won anything in my 24 years before, I didn't bother going over to the stand for the draw...doh! Then when friends at the draw had managed to get through to me on my mobile, I dashed straight over, but Alan had already moved on...double doh! I was just wondering if on the video you have there's any mention of a 'Geoff'? And, if so, if it would alright to get a copy somehow from you? I just think it would be kinda cool to see/hear the draw :D

Thanks in advance.

^_^
