Hi.

After goin through all the episodes once I decided to watch the movie. Here my observation.

Serenity is a nice recap of the series. Something to catch. Action filled piece of art that anyone can see and like.

However due to its shortness there a few things wich were missed out. I do not know if that was doen on purpose, but that's exactly why I prefer the series.

1. Warm feeling of a refuge or home for everyone on the ship. Feelin gof being welcome in a certain way.

2. The characters and not worked through, exposed (?), explained. Please , help me out here, I do not know how to put it correctly in english. The only character who has been developed more then in the series - River. I feel it was done in a more balanced way with FireFly.
3. Book and Wash killed. I though they were essential to balance action/ straighforwardness of the rest.

That's why I'd definitly prefer FireFly series to be continued, rather then Serenity. Anyway, I spread the FireFly around. Serenity those ppl have to discover themselves...

Keep Flying.
Doffe.

Well, one doesn't have the time in a 2-hour movie to "flesh-out" characters as one does in a continuing (albeit "short-lived") series. That's probably why he didn't go into as much detail about the others in the crew.

I perfectly understand this. That's why I'm after the series. Those characters are inspiring. Something I started to notice, that if before I was usually noticing bad things all round me, nowdays I more often notice good things in the very same situations... Not only becouse of firefly (there is more to it), but partly :)

Yeah, I'd have to agree with those points. I'm still a big fan of the movie, but there are certain things that the series does better and vice/versa as well.

The nice thing about the series is that you have more time to spend on all nine crewmembers... you can have an episode that focuses more one a few Heroes at a time, and it tends to even out through the course of the season. Also, you have more time in general, so you can have those nice moments, like the ball-game in Bushwhacked and I always love when you see the crew eating together like a family.

Nice thing about the movie, though, is with two hours, while you have to compress certain things, you also get more emotional bang for the buck. I've watched the BDM half a dozen times now, and I still get teary-eyed everyime I watch it (moreso now that I've seen the series, too.)

Still, there's things with the movie that you miss out on. (Never noticed until I read Joss commenting that for example Inara and Kaylee don't have any lines together.)

So yeah, I'll take what I can get, and if all I get is a movie trilogy, I'll be happy. But still... best of all possible outcomes is to see the series come back. (Or we kidnap Joss, the cast, and all the crew, and blackmail them into doing both the series and the movies. :)
