There may have been posts like this is the past, but I am lazy and don't feel like goin back and readin' them.

So, I have a question on Tall Card (the game Simon, Jayne, and Book were playing in "Shindig").

What are the suits played? I have read a couple diffrent versions....does it really matter?

I'm of the opinion that it doesn't matter much. It'd be nice to know what the actual suts are. I made my own set (20, to be exact), and the suits I used were Bananas. Apples, Oranges, Peaches, Plums, and Strawberries (in honor of Kaylee, of course). More importantly, I put the Blue Sun logo on the back of each card, to make each deck 'Verse-ified.
In closing, it shouldn't matter too much. Why do you ask?

No, I am not insane, I am crazy. Thank you for asking.

In one of the episodes commentary (forget which one) one of the people doing the commentary mentioned that Joss wanted an actual game. So, he got her to create actual rules, etc.

I'm sure if you send a letter asking for the rules, and she still has them, that she'll post and/or send them to you. And of course you'll share if she does that right?

But, that's if you want the official rules.

If you just wanna have fun, rules don't mean much as long as you are having fun

It was the Shindig commentary. There were originally no rules, the writer just had them playing some poker-esque card game and using chores for chips. But when the actors came on, they immediately wanted to know how to play the game, so she had to come up with 'official rules'.

Well, I stand corrected. Thanks for confirming the officials rules too

But, now thanks to you, we have the episode to get the name of the person that created the rules. Perhaps she still has them and is willing to share

actually, the suits are not as stated in the previous post(or so I believe)
Go to http://cgi.ebay.com/Firefly-Serenity-Prop-Tall-Card-Plum-Joss-Whedon_W

and you will see replicas of only 4 tall cards containing the suits: apples, plums, blades, and shells. I'm not sure that this is a reliable source (it is ebay after all) but perhaps It will shed some light on the true game, If we should ever figure it out.

You think you know--what's to come, what you are. You haven't even begun.

I think all the information would be here: http://www.fireflywiki.org/Firefly/TallCard Rules, suits, description, etc. They were available on the official site before F*X killed it...
Also looks like there's a downloadable game here: http://www.tradebit.com/filedetail.php/49013

Those are all of the unofficial rules, I am trying to find the official ones. I'm thinking of mailing a letter to firefly's writer Jane Espenson. I found her adress.

This topic has come up several times before, and I think that we've always wound up at the same place. The commentary says that the rules were posted but they never actually were. Trust me, we Browncoats were as rabid from day one as we are now. I was hitting the f@x website every rutting day, and others (like Lex Lucre) were far more involved. Just the script excerpt was up. No one has seen any copies of the rules, and I think Jane Espenson (sp?) was contacted by the sorely missed Lex Lucre before he drew up the first unofficial rules.

I think Ms. Espenson (sp?) mis-spoke on the commentary and that we should use whichever rules on the fireflywiki work best for you.

Now all we need are the cards themselves. I declare a Blue Sun Room challenge! Who wants to make them?
