*News Alert*

This one's ex cathedra from Lee Whiteside (who's running the weekend shindig for the nominees):

Quote:

The Science Fiction and Fantasy Writers of America released the final 2006 Nebula Awards Ballot last weekend.

Of interest to SF media fans is that the script award has only two entries:

Battlestar Galactica - "Act of Contrition"/"You Can't Go Home Again", by Carla Robinson; Bradley Thompson; and David Weddle.

Serenity by Joss Whedon

The Galactica episodes were added by the Nebula Script Jury and had not previously been listed on the preliminary ballot. (Serenity was the only script to get enough recommendations to make the preliminary ballot).

SFWA members will vote on the awards and they will be announced at the Nebula Awards Banquet in Tempe, AZ on Saturday, May 6th. Full details on the Nebula Awards Weekend (May 4-7) can be found at http://www.sfwa.org/awards/2006 .

SFWA will also be honoring Harlan Ellison as the Grand Master and William F. Nolan as the Author Emeritus.

(My bold for emphasis.)

I'd say it's a shoe-in, but Galactica is some pretty big competition. Still, our BDM reached here on her own, and that ain't nothing.

We are holding, Browncoats.

FLACO

Wow, it's in Tempe, Az. I live in Scottsdale right up the road. I wonder if it's a closed event or if the public can get tickets?

Harlen Ellison wrote one of the best episodes of Star Trek, "City on the Edge of Forever." Won a Hugo award I think. I wonder what he could've done rambling around our little 'verse?
