I'm the track leader for Gaming Guests and Panels and am trying to find out if any of the Firefly fan groups would be interested in a fan table at I-CON 25, the Northeast’s largest convention of science fiction, fact and fantasy, being held this year at the SUNY Stonybrook campus from 24-26 March 2006. I-CON is a three day festival, designed to encourage literacy, creativity and interest in science and technology through science fiction and its related genres. Programming at I-CON spans a wide range of topics and interests, including science fiction, fantasy, horror, comic books, Japanese animation (otherwise known as Anime), medieval reenactment, science and technology.

We have confirmed Jamie Chambers (writer of the Serenity RPG) and Ron Glass as guests for this year's show. I was thinking that there would be a neat bit of synergy to have a Firefly table. Especially as it was a Firefly table at last year's show that got me hooked.

Tables are free of charge if offered out of a track budget (which one of these are). Goods may not be sold unless they are specific to the mission of the group.

Please contact me via email if you, or someone else you know would be interested.

Thank you,

~^..^~

I'm excited to attend I-Con this year. It will be my first time at this convention, though friends have told me it's a great show. Very shiny that Ron Glass will be there as well!

I hope there enough area Browncoats to organize a fan table. I'd be happy to support such an effort.

If you play Nationstates.net check out the region Firefly.

This will be my sixth year attending I-Con and I have to reccomend it if you haven't gone. Last year I had the pleasure of meeting Jewel Staite and Keith R.A. DeCandido [author of the novelization]. The Browncoat contingent put on a really fun Shindig in Jewel's honor.

I-CON 25 is held annually on the SUNY Stonybrook campus in Stonybrook, NY (Long Island). I'm still new to traveling around Long Island myself, but I believe the Long Island Rail Road (LIRR) has stops at both Ronkonkoma and Stonybrook. There may be groups organizing carpools to the convention. MacArthur airport in Islip, NY is also the main airport used in the area.

Thank you for the tip. At the moment, I haven't done much in the way of e-gaming (last time was Diablo II Lord of Destruction), but I am happy to report that I play a Companion with medical training and some mean cooking skills in a bi-weekly Serenity game.

Hope to see you at the con in March!

Zaijian,

Hey Cherise!

I'm going to link to your post over on the NYC Browncoats board--I know that they are VERY interested in doing a fan table, but I don't think they know about your offer.

I ran the table last year (unfortunately I can't this year because I'm moving) so I'm really psyched to hear it converted ya!

I should be at ICon this year, my fellow podcast hosts and I are going to do a show from there I think, for one day at least. Looking forward to meeting Ron!

I've requested to (at least temporarily) join the NY-area Browncoats. I would like to talk to those attending I-Con about helping to make the fan table a success and running Serenity RPG events at the show. Anyone wanting to talk to me about this and more can contact me using games@margaretweis.com -- or respond here!
