We should organize our buying effort and give it one more push on Amazon

Maybe we can push Serenity to number 1 again on Amazon or other major online retailers. I just recently convinced some of my co-workers to give Firefly/Serenity a try. They are finally showing interest after listening to my promotion for 2 straight months I might need extra copies to infect more innocent people.

Spread the infection by all means. That's our only way of getting anything done, but as for organizing buying, I'd stay away from that. Any group effort to buy at once will be followed by a dry spell, better to let it be less remarkable day by day but more steady over all. That's what I think at least.

Plus, we have already been accused of buying efforts (even though we have never done so) to make it look like Firefly or Serenity is getting to more people than it actually is. I find that as sort of a stain on the Browncoats honor. Get other people to buy it. Now if you do have a money to waste I see nothing against buying copies and giving them to other people even to those you don't know.

What we should be doing is organizing viewings of Firefly or Serenity to people who have not seen the signal.

Oh, and play Cantr II at www.cantr.net.

Agreed.

I do feel that we should start people off with Firefly wherever possible.

Just got a co-worker and her boyfriend hooked last week. Somebody around here was talking about pushing the first two disks then telling folks to buy it if they want to see the rest, but I don't have the heart.

I will, however, heavily encourage pretty much everyone I know who likes Firefly/Serenity to buy a DVD of each.

And... have we received any word on a special edition of Serenity, so I can buy that, too? Seems like the perfect way for our limited numbers to keep having an impact on sales.

Clearinghouse for discussion of holding benefit screenings of Joss Whedon's Serenity (or, for that matter, episodes of Firefly) beginning in 2006.

Both individual stand-alone benefits for various charities and a proposal for multiple same-day screenings across the country to benefit Equality Now will be discussed.

Wherever you're located, if you're interested in trying to do a benefit screening sometime next year, please join the discussion here.

"Benefit" should be taken two ways: These screenings literally will benefit charity, but in addition we will benefit from getting to see the movie on the big screen again.

I always kinda wondered about that . I know they can't directly track who is buying the DVDs but I cant help but think that it is monitored in someway and if they take that into account...

I only buy for friends who have decided not to give Firefly/Serenity a try because of its sci-fi or western elements. I used to be one of them until one day a co-worker brought it to work and forced me watch in my cubicle Next thing I know I was hooked. Completely fell in love with the characters and storyline.
