*shakes head* will Fox ever learn? You would think that they would after Firefly mocking their stupidity with a movie, and their reluctant reacceptance of Family Guy back into their programming, (and other great shows they cancelled never coming back) that they would learn their lesson? Apparently not, Arrested Development is being axed too. Now, I'm not a fan of the show, I think its ok, but I know its VERY popular. From a simple business standpoint- Popular=money Very Popular=Lots of Money. So, whats wrong with those 'executives' in control of networking up at Fox? Are intoxicated 24/7 or something? Come on..

Fox has a rich tradition of taking a chance on great shows (Firefly, Dragon, Undeclared etc) leaving them on for long enough to snag a loyal audience and then pissing everone off by cancelling them. I miss the Bluth Family

And don't forget Futurama. It's like Fox has a split personality, they take a risk on an off-the-wall idea, and then they chicken out and cancel it. But then, when have TV execs ever had a half a brain amongst them. I'm just glad the SciFi channel took up the gauntlet and started showing Firefly. Hey, maybe they'll get the rights to Futurama too...

finally.....it took them long enough to cancel a dumb show like arrested development for once, and not something like Firefly/Futurama/Family Guy/Dark Angel.

The 1st and 2nd season were and maybe still are in the top 20 on Amazon just below Firefly. It must be pretty popular. It was a funny show.

Die...

I LOVE Arrested Development, it's hilarious, I don't love it as much as I do Family Guy, and Scrubs, and Firefly, but I still love it and that's what counts!

Damn Fox, they don't deserve the name of such a cool animal...

The greatest part of Arrested Development was the absence of a laugh track. I HATE laugh tracks. Hate them hate them hate them.
(There's a reason: one day I had a fever and was fever-napping on my friend's couch. She was watching friends and all I could hear was every fake burst of laughter. They melted together to a centuries-long fever nap of fake laughter. It was almost as bad a being electrocuted by Niska.)

I think that is what killed the show though. People (most people) are so complacent in today's society that not only can they not entertain themselves without television, they can't be bothered to figure out themselves where the laughter should go.
"Wait, was that funny or not? I'M SO CONFUSED! Tv execs, how could you be so heartless as to not point out blatantly where the jokes end?"

It's like a drive through McDonald's.
I don't:
Grow the food, pick the food, transport the food, prepare the food, package the food, cook the food or serve the food, but damned if I'm going to get out of my car to get the food!

I totally forgot that FOX cancelled Futurama also, I wish SciFi would pick it up. Its not enough to call the execs at Fox Douchebags, they need to be assigned some sort of rank that fits their business decisions, like Admiral Douchbag, Overlord of the Douchbags, Conan the Duchebag or President Douchbag.

You are so correct, on all accounts: laugh tracks are the most annoying contrivances on the face of the earth (NOBOBY tells me when to laugh mister),and they rank up there with the MacDonalds drive-in as pabulum for the lazy and brainless "lowest common demoninator".

I think A.D. didn't appeal to the "great unwashed masses" because it's humor is too cynical. It makes fun of the people that usually can't take a joke.

Newbie here.

Much as I love to bash the dillholes presiding over FOX, I can't blame 'em for this. This is not a Firefly situation. They took a ratings bath on Arrested Development for two year and half years. Two and half years! It was a fantastic, critically acclaimed show, fiercely loved by its fan base, and they gave it two and half years to catch on.

If there is blame to be passed around, it belongs to the frickin' Americans. FOX did right by Arrested Development. It just never caught on. Maybe it was the intelligent humor, sight gags, or multi-episode payoffs. Personally, I think America couldn't figure out the funny and there was no laugh track to point them to it. 2 and half years and they hardly topped 4 million viewers. Either it was just too quirky and oddball, or America is filled with knuckle dragging neanderthals. I'm really pissed right now, so I'm leaning towards the latter, but give me time. Supposedly it heals wounds and stuff.

But gah! Two and a half years! It's like FOX learned their lesson from Firefly, or something.

To those Futurama fans out there, TBS shows it late at night I believe. I know I've caught it a few times on the weekend when I'm up late and have nothing else to watch. Family Guy comes on around 12am and Futurama comes on right after it. I guess it could depend on who your cable provider is...but I know I see it here.
