DOes anybody think they'll be a sequel? DID it make enough $ money to encourage a SERENITY franchise? or better still perhaps will it be picked up by another network?

Well there's a video interview on the BBC (link in another post from here) and they ask Josh about the future of Firefly, would there be another film or TV series. He said if the film was a success watch out for a sequel, otherwise ... wait for the novel. Now he could be playing hardball with the networks getting them to come to him by not touting the idea of a new series. Or something else.

All we can do is keep buying tickets, keep buying the DVDs etc. Give them $s and they will want more.

My understanding was that the film has to make $ 80 million worldwide to guarantee a sequel. It is also my understanding that that includes DVD sales. It would seem to make the most sense that if we want a sequel that we should try to buy 2 movie tickets a week per person, even if we can't go. That can get expensive, but that all depends on whether or not it is worth it to us. We can talk about offering a studio $X per episode, and that might be a good idea, but to help now, it makes the most sense to keep the cash flow going in the theaters.
