First off want to say thanks to Joss for creating the best sci-fi to date. Firefly and Serenity is truly the best of the best.

As a die-hard fan of Firefly and Serenity I feel the need to apologize to Joss. I worked so hard to tell anyone and everyone about Firefly/Serenity, but my efforts seem to have been in vain. With the second week of Serenity behind us it ranks in at number nine at the box office. A spot usually reserved for movies that have been out for a month or more. I wish I could understand why a movie like Flight Plan that is ranked so poorly by critics can beat out a movie like Serenity that has an overall approval rating of 80% on Rotten Tomatoes. As a die hard fan I feel as though I have let Joss down. Sorry Joss, but I will continue to try and keep the signal alive.

Indeed, keep trying, but there's no need to beat yourself up about it. The #9 slot was a prediction based on estimates placing us at $4.8 million for the weekend, and a standard sci-fi drop of 51%. Those were estimates.

The hard numbers have come in and we fared a bit better. $5.35 million for the weekend. 47% drop off (unusually low for a sci-fi film, which is good), and 8th place, ahead of A History of Violence. So don't despair yet, we're still flying. But please do everything you can to spread the word and get butts in the theaters--help this film get legs.

The reason I think that it was only ranked #9 in the box office was that some movie theaters didnt give it a chance. Where I live, the loew's theater only had 4 show times where it has over 20 theaters. I went on saturday and they only had it showing 4 times! I dont know why they didnt have that many show times. The theater that I was in was sold out. But O well...

Speaking of AHoV, I went to go see it this weekend. Talk about aweful! The movie with the laughably bad ending ( yep, folks were making jokes about how bad it was when leaving the theatre ) wasted some likable bad guy performances by Willam Hurt and Ed Harris.

I've seen SERENITY a few times ( 6 ) and am more amazed at how much better it is than some of the other films which are out there.

" They don't like it when you shoot at 'em. I worked that out myself. "
