Sorry if someone posted this already, I tend to show up for things "fashionably late"...

FIREFLY (FOX) - The Sci Fi Channel has landed the repeat rights to all 15 hours of the short-lived FOX series (and basis of the upcoming "Serenity" feature film). The network's July schedule lists the series as joining its Friday lineup on July 22 at 7:00/6:00c where it will precede original episodes of "Stargate SG-1," "Stargate Atlantis" and "Battlestar Galactica."

Yeah, somebody already mentioned it. But, I'd like to take this opportunity to remind everybody -- in my inimical, self-aggrandizing style -- that I've been begging for the series to be re-shown on SciFi since last summer. ..."Firefly on SciFi" is the network promo tagline I've been vetting. I'd like to see lots of extras too, like 'behind the scenes at the set' and cast and creator interviews (which could then be included on the Serenity DVD). They'd just need to make the slot an hour and five or ten minutes (similar to what NBC did with "Friends" in its last couple of seasons) and then include an interview or featurette after the episode.

Alas, on the first thread -- which yours duplicates -- everybody else has already claimed the 'rerun' idea as their own. But here's an idea nobody has claimed yet: Although it starts out in the 7EDT/6CDT time slot, by the time Firefly's been in the "SciFi Friday" rotation for a month, I predict its ratings will be so promising that Vivendi-Universal move it right next to BSG (where it belongs), pushing that Stargate dreck down the list. Preferably, after BSG, to better accommodate its hour-and-ten length.

Firefly's success on television is up to us. Y'all say you're dyed-in-the-wool Browncoats? Willing to pay $300 for a preview ticket? Move heaven and earth for an orange tuque?

Well how about coughing up the extra $12 a month for extended basic cable and making Firefly a ratings success? Skip a meal or two at Mickey D's for art's sake.

Firefly is coming back to television. Not in the form we'd prefer, I grant you. But we have a chance to prove F*x was wrong -- once and for all -- for dry-docking our ship. I'd really like to see Firefly get the top ratings for a cable show, for as long as she (re)runs. Reward SciFi and their sponsors for resurrecting our girl and giving us a BDM. They've shown good judgment and a sense of responsibility to the television consumer that F*x has never done.

If I could personally rub the F*x programmers' noses in canine excrement, I would; but perhaps making Firefly a ratings bonanza would be even better revenge...

Respectfully,

zoid
