Duane Kidd, a 42-year-old lifelong resident of Englewood, stood up to the protesters. “None of these motherf*****s are gonna be here tomorrow. That’s why I got a problem,” he declared, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

Roughly 75 protesters joined a rally organized by the Chicago Alliance Against Racist and Political Repression, Black Lives Matter, South Siders Organized for Unity, and Liberation and Good Kids/Mad City. Kidd claimed that the residents of his South Side neighborhood did not receive any prior notice of the rally, and argued that Englewood residents would bear the brunt of the destruction if the protest devolved into a riot.

“They didn’t let the community know. They didn’t put flyers on people’s doors,” the local black man said. “If they would’ve gotten something incited with the police, who’s gotta deal with it tomorrow? The community. Not them. They’ll be somewhere sipping sangria somewhere. I’m telling you like it is.”

Darryl Smith, president of the Englewood Political Task Force, joined Kidd’s counter-protest against the Black Lives Matter opportunists.

“If your issue is with the police, take it to 35th and Michigan [where the Chicago Police Department headquarters is located]. Don’t come in Englewood with it,” Smith told reporters. “If the people on 56th Street want to come over and protest the police, they can do it. But no one from the North Side or Indiana or any place other than Englewood can come here and do that.”

Goddamn right.

Go back to your mom's basement, Marcos.

That's hilarious coming from a government-dependent pauper like you.

lol @ pauper.

Paid everything, zero debt, and somewhere in the area of 5 to 10 times the average American's savings to boot (which isn't really savings for most of them since they're in debt up to their eyeballs).

Good one though. That's funny.

Go light a trashcan on fire now Second since you're pissed off that you don't have anything.

You've got $5000 saved up? Good for you, pauper. Enjoy your trailer park.

LOL no.

https://www.valuepenguin.com/banking/average-savings-account-balance

Quote:

American households with savings accounts have a median balance of $7,000 and an average balance of $30,600, according to analysis of data collected by the Federal Reserve in 2016. The median figure gives the best approximation of what most Americans have saved, since the average is heavily skewed by high-income outliers with large deposits.

I should have said 5 to 10 times the median, not average.

And that's with a paid for house, a paid for car, a paid for everything and only my monthly heat, water, electric... the 6 month prop tax and car insurance, and whatever I put into my house.

So yeah. Go fuck yourself poor boy.

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

Not a critique of you JACK, I just want to point out that the figures put out by the fed (referenced in your link) are just one more example of how we're being lied to every day.

How can one reconcile the picture of America where the median household savings balance is $7000 but where "40% of Americans don’t have $400 in the bank for emergency expenses: Federal Reserve" https://abcnews.go.com/US/10-americans-struggle-cover-400-emergency-ex
pense-federal/story?id=63253846
?

It's because there are THREE measure of central tendency in statistics - the mean (average, or Xbar), the median, and the MODE. You'll notice that the Fed never mentions the MODE, even though that's where the bulk of people live. That 'mode' figure would be far too ... unvarnished ... to include in any analysis.

This is the difference between mean, median, and mode, where the curve of something like income has a huge portion at the low end but an extended low tail far out at the high end.

Yeah.... I know.

A very large part of the country is on the brink and can't even afford an emergency if it happens.

I was well on my way there myself when I sobered up after not working 2 1/2 years. I still had some money left, but it wasn't much. And if you don't have any income for that long it doesn't matter if you hardly have any living expenses... you're eventually going to go broke.

I'm just glad I'm in a position where I can save so much with a near-minimum wage job. I don't think the market for finding anything else is very good at the moment.

And I get to put a lot of that money in my house where I'll make a lot more than I would eventually than if I put it in a near 0% savings account.

And I'm sure as hell not going to gamble on the DOW again.

Do Right, Be Right. :)
