The Party of Enron, the invasion of Iraq blaming Iraq for 911 and wasting blood and treasure over a lie that Iraq had WMDs...

Trump is lying this morning about Cliff Sims, who was on TV last night:
Donald J. Trump @realDonaldTrump
A low level staffer that I hardly knew named Cliff Sims wrote yet another boring book based on made up stories and fiction. He pretended to be an insider when in fact he was nothing more than a gofer. He signed a non-disclosure agreement. He is a mess!

Trump's people took a poll that’s full of bad news for Trump — like that his approval rating is probably 13 points underwater nationally and he’s less popular than Democratic House incumbents who are holding down Trump-voting districts — and wrote it up as if it’s good news for Trump.

If Trump is made aware that his highly confrontational approach to immigration policy is unpopular, it’s conceivable that he will try to replace it with a different and more popular approach. That would serve his interest in being reelected, but also serve the American people’s strong interest in avoiding future government shutdowns.

And while in general there is more to statesmanship than “do popular stuff while avoiding unpopular stuff,” it’s honestly not a terrible starting point. At a minimum, relative to the current Trump baseline, trying to be more popular — fewer shutdowns and tweets, more happy photo ops to emphasize good economic news, maybe actually doing something about infrastructure — would be a really good idea.

But for that to happen, Trump’s people need to have the courage to tell him his strategy isn’t working. Instead, Trump's people seem to be trying to curry favor with the president by painting an unduly rosy picture of the situation — an approach that’s likely to end in tears . . .

I hope Trump ignores the polls telling him to give America a smaller serving of his trademarked craziness. Also, I hope he trashes the Republican party's reputation and the GOP loses many seats in Congress in 2020.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Quoting from that article:

As you probably know, putting fluoride in our drinking water dramatically reduced tooth decay, by around 25 percent per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. But as you likely also know, the initial rollout of fluoride in the 1940s and 1950s was intensely controversial.

Jesse Hicks, a science journalist who wrote a great history of the fluoride wars, told me on this week’s Future Perfect podcast that the backlash started in Stevens Point, Wisconsin, with a local gadfly named Alexander Y. Wallace who was convinced the substance was poison, and who wrote a parody song called “Goodnight, Flourine” to the tune of the folk song “Goodnight, Irene.”

From there, the conspiratorial, far-right John Birch Society became convinced that fluoride was a Communist plot; the Ku Klux Klan came out against fluoride too. “I think part of the longevity of this controversy has to do with the way it can activate so many different biases and prejudices,” Hicks told me. “As soon as you start talking about putting something in the water supply you have small or anti-government people responding very vigorously against that.”

What is your point?

Fluoride was put in the water to prevent tooth decay. Whether or not that is entirely true is irrelevant in comparison to Lithium.

Lithium is used to treat bi-polar disorder. It's a chemical that is well known to effect brain chemistry.

Vox is promoting drugging people and altering people's brain chemistry en masse, under the guise of (potentially) preventing a few suicides.

Here comes the insult, 6ixStringJack: As usual, you missed the point completely. Some people (I have examples in mind of Texans) just refuse to listen or be reasonable about fluoride. So they end up drinking only bottled water (or beer). They are the people who joined the John Birch Society, the KKK, voted for Trump, hostile toward fluoride, have rotten teeth, etc. They are exactly the kind of people that need to be drugged with lithium. Some of them (again, real Texans) have committed suicide. They were crazy and didn't know it. What they think is not actually guided by their personal values or a philosophy or a choice to live free; it is a brain malfunction. Do they sense that they are malfunctioning? Not a chance in hell, their brains are so out of order. It is why they had so many problems in life that sane people easily avoid.

Political conservatives are happier than liberals. We proposed that this happiness gap is accounted for by specific attitude and personality differences associated with positive adjustment and mental health. In contrast, a predominant social psychological explanation of the gap is that conservatives, who are described as fearful, defensive, and low in self-esteem, will rationalize away social inequalities in order to justify the status quo (system justification). In four studies, conservatives expressed greater personal agency (e.g., personal control, responsibility), more positive outlook (e.g., optimism, self-worth), more transcendent moral beliefs (e.g., greater religiosity, greater moral clarity, less tolerance of transgressions), and a generalized belief in fairness, and these differences accounted for the happiness gap. These patterns are consistent with the positive adjustment explanation.

Keep telling yourself that, bud.

And do keep in mind in our little microcosm that is the RWED who is constantly bitching about everything over the last two years.

It certainly isn't me. Everything is copacetic here.

If you want Lithium, be my guest. I'm sure your doctor will prescribe it for you. Keep it out of my drinking water, thank you very much.

Oh, and I will thank you once again for another shining example of your own personal fascist viewpoint on the world. Underlined in your quote above.

I know you're all about freedom, until it's somebody you don't agree with. Then it's up to you to decide who should and shouldn't be on drugs.

It's no surprise that you are fan of Vox and fully support their propaganda piece that promotes drugging EVERYONE in the country en masse.

You're kidding right!?

Well, let's start with "Nancy" (I get really tickled knowing that the best nickname he could muster for Pelosi was "Nancy")

She spanked him and sent him to his room without supper - "No wall for you, young man." Then gave him permission to speak in the House Chamber.

Shutdown: Donnie baby 0 - Nancy Pelosi 2

Ann Coulter got into the festivities and called him a wimp. Embarrassing.

Fox News - boring!

By the way, where's Mitch? and where's Rush?

The poorer Trump voters think they are brave and wise in commonsense, but they are laughably deluded about themselves, which why is they ain't doing that well. I been telling for 5 years this one Trump voter that he needs to wear a filter mask when he is working around fiberglass and he needs to stop smoking to "clear his lungs" at break-time between working with fiberglass. I even bought filters and a mask. He wouldn't use them. Said he didn't need it. Now he has lung disease, cannot work, and in his forcefully expressed opinion it is not his fault. It is Obama's fault. Trump voters can't learn except from bad experience. And once they get the experience, they come to wrong conclusions. That is a long wait for a train that ain't comin'... Being wrong only seems to make them more pigheaded and spiteful. I have seen people on this very board be coddled and schooled by some very smart posters, only to ignore their generous and patient council with very little consideration. Never has the phrase, "They are their own worst enemies," been more applicable. That is the majority of Trump voters that I know, the very same ones Trump wouldn't stop to spit on and yet they think the world of him, "He tells it like it is!"

lol.. Yup Second. You got me pegged. I'm not brave.

I didn't break the cycle of alcoholism on my own without a 12 step program.

I didn't decide to exit the rat race willingly and work at the best job I've ever had part time where I can virtually call the shots about when I work.

I didn't get beaten down within an inch of my life and literally stabbed in the back by 4 guys for standing up for a woman that I hardly knew. (Yup... that's posted here too).

Go troll somebody with thin skin that cares about your opinion. Your bullying won't work here. :)

And don't talk to me about lying about what was in the article either. You're already quoted on this board defending the practice of drugging people en masse with Lithium, especially Trump voters. Just because you actually went and read the article after I called you out on that doesn't mean that you're not a fascist at heart.

6ixStringJack, have you been watching that show My 600-lb Life? Where they stuff themselves senseless until they lose their health? That show uses the notion that it takes courage to stop eating. I have seen the doctor on that show tell patients over and over that if they don't stop they will die. What takes courage, or maybe stupidity, is to keep eating.

6ix, you stopped drinking poison and you want a fucking medal for bravery? Real heroes get the medal for doing something that will harm them, NOT for NOT doing what will harm them. Your understanding of bravery is upside down and backwards. You won't get a medal of courage for not drinking flammable liquids followed by swallowing a Bic cigarette lighter. It is NOT courage; it is coming to your fucking senses after acting with no sense of self-preservation for years.

What old story about yourself are you still believing? This story is not the one that contains the objective facts of our lives. It’s “the story you’ve been telling yourself about who you are and how everything always plays out,” says psychiatrist and Harvard Medical School professor John Sharp. “If you want to change your life, it needs a re-edit.”

For Sharp, his parents divorced when he was young, and he says, “the false truth that I held to so dearly was that just . . . as I couldn’t be effective in keeping my parents together, I probably couldn’t be effective at much of anything else, and this left me feeling very insecure.”

I was speaking with a guy at the state fair who was at the republican both. I was to knowledgeable about the issues so he suggested I speak with his wife. When she came over it didn't take long for it to come out that their child had sever autism.

So I said, let me get this straight. Both of you are working hard to convince me to vote for people who would discontinue the very programs that helps you keep afloat? That helps to give your child a better life. I saw it in her face. It finally sunk in. Our conversation ended right there and then. Not sure but I think she is voting democratic now.

A great man once said "I've put those days behind me. But the bitter wisdom that one has been a fool is not without value."

I never said that I haven't done stupid things. I've done a GREAT deal of stupid things in my life.

Having wrestled with demons and come out alive on the other side, I have quite a lot of empathy for anybody who is struggling with any kind of addiction that is destroying themselves and hurting everyone who cares or used to care about them. I'd lost friends in the past to addictions as well, whether they're no longer with us now, or they're fixtures in the correctional system for the rest of their lives because of it.

Overcoming addiction is not merely about removing the act of consumption itself. It's facing all of the bad things you've done to yourself and others, accepting those consequences, fixing what you can and doing all of the above without stumbling and relapsing back into those addictions that were destroying yourself in the first place.

You'll notice that I've never once removed my posts here. Every drunken rant and mindless rambling I've ever made here is still available for perusal. Just ask T... He's threatened me on quite a few occasions to post them here again, and for a while there he would purposefully dig up threads for everyone to re-hash when my sobriety was in its infancy.

Let's just say, that you don't come off very brave right now with your callous and self-righteous dismissal of something which you luckily know nothing about.

So no... I will not let you steer this conversation off topic.

You are fully behind the idea of pumping everyone full of Lithium in our drinking water, even people who voted for Hillary, in order to ensure that Trump voters get their dose.

Yet on the exact same day you said that, in a different thread, you said that Americans were cowards because they don't start punching their bosses for pay raises.

Talk about sending mixed messages.

Nevermind the fact that most large companies don't even work that way anymore. Not that you'd know it, but when you work in retail all of the pay for non-salaried employees these days is handled by computer algorithms. We've got to be fair to everyone, so everybody starts at the same pay and gets the same raise, no matter how much or less harder they work than anybody else. Punching your boss in this case would accomplish nothing other than losing your shitty job and likely going to jail.

Do Right, Be Right. :)

Stone claims Mueller probe might be plot to make Pelosi, Clinton president

That's a Trump lover's sad fantasy, isn't it? And Stone knows it.
I don't think they actually believe it would be possible but the imagery is too hard for them to ignore, or at least not bath in for a couple seconds - Trump revenge porn.

6ixStringJack, I’ve fired a hundred thousand bullets – some miss, but not most. Did I go and collect the bullets from the missed shots and properly dispose of them to keep hidden my shamefully bad aim? No way! My name and phone # wasn’t on any of them so why would I care? But every miss tells me how I should correct myself, improve my marksmanship. 6ix, you have fired a hundred thousand comments – many missed by a mile, some even hit targets you should never hit (imagine you are a soldier killing a kid with bullet). But it would be a waste of your time for you to erase those comments because none of them have your real name or phone # attached. What is not a waste of time is for the real you, the living person behind the pseudonym 6ixStringJack, learning from your misses. You have been told many times when and where you missed, but you deny that you missed. Please stop doing that.

There is paradox about humans. To get a boss to behave like a gentleman, the employees must be brutes with the boss when he misbehaves. But I have seen zero push-back against bad bosses by frightened, intimidated, and easily cowed American employees. The only employees that push-back are unionized. But unions are anathema to Republicans, which means Republicans have got no way to fight back against unfair company policies and a bad boss or CEO, other than beat him to death and hope his replacement has greater generosity and better behavior.

Wrong again. Some people here know me. Probably not many who still post here, but without giving away any details I'll just say that my brother was once a pretty important member of this site back in the day and knows quite a few of the old guard personally. I'm quite certain that I've put him in an embarrassing position once or twice with my past behavior here. He's a better man than you or I though, fortunately for me.

And as for missing, I rarely miss. Just because you or Marcos or any of our friends here who fear Putin like he's the big bad of the week don't agree with something I say doesn't mean I'm wrong.

I guess I'll just point out once again that I'm the only poster here who isn't a completely static character. I've improved my own life 1000% in the last two years. You'll note that I'm no longer bitching about any of the ills of the world as if they somehow effect me personally. They don't. I'm living a perfectly copacetic life. One would think with all that money you have that you'd have better stuff to do with your life than bitch every single day on a forum that has 8 regular posters left. Everyone else here bitches about the same old shit day in and day out. The only place that isn't a broken record in the RWED is the Garden and Rain thread.

Oh... and I'm also the only one here that has gone out of their way on more than one occasion to admit when I am wrong.

You said that all the Texas Republicans you know could use lithium. You never said anything about disagreeing with the article in question. It was only after I called you out for saying something extremely fascist that you backpedaled and brought up the parts late in the article where there was some potential negatives about putting poison in our water for our collective benefit.

When it became offical that my previous manager was on his way out the door, that made a lot of people happy. I wasn't one of them. I had a problem with him once, I confronted him, and then I got everything I wanted from him and never once was I subjected to his passive aggressive ranting that he'd do late at night when he was stressed out. That's not to say he didn't do it to others still... he did it all the time. That wasn't my problem, and I've learned to pick and choose my battles these days. I already had what I wanted.

Just found out the girl I advised to take the Team Lead position just got word that they're making her a manager. I thought she might be on the fast track, but even I'm surprised at how fast this happened. I felt bad for her that she was doing manager work but only being paid hourly. Good on her. She loves me, and I'll have no problems with her without even having to get into a fight.

As for the money, it's really a non-issue to me. You place far too much value on money. That seems to be a necessity of poor people and a disease of rich people.

Me... I've got everything I need.
