I've only got a minute, but this is the one article that pissed me off for today. May not get another minute for a couple days...

Goodbye, kind world (George Monbiot) - In common with all those generations which have contemplated catastrophe, we appear to be incapable of understanding what confronts us.

It seems like playing better tennis than all of your competition isn't enough for the USTA.
Maybe they think TA stands for something else.

OONJERAH - We are too dumb to live and smart enough to wipe ourselves out.
"You, who live in any kind of comfort or convenience, do not know how these people can survive these things, do you? They will endure because there is no immediate escape from endurance. Some will die, the rest must live."

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Also, she's a lefty. Tough to beat because most people are trained to compete with right-handed opponents.

No, not really 'trained ' as such, that's just how it works out, with most folks being right handed. I played low level organized tennis, and the occasional Lefty does crop up, now and then. You just deal w/ it, best ya can. Kinda like a left-handed pitcher.

Pretty rare to have a hefty tennis player win consistently at the higher levels. Denying her support, because of her heft though...that's kinda extreme. Let the kids play. Stressing that she may help her game ( and reduce potential for injury ) if she lost some weight is fine. But beyond that, I think is silly.

What in the actual fuck?

She looks average sized to me. Yeah, okay she doesn't look like a super star athlete but she looks pretty healthy. And if she's winning while looking like that, who the hell even cares and WHY is it their business?

Hell. I have big hips and thighs, I won't ever have a much coveted "thigh-gap" simply because of my musculature, and I'm sure people would call me a fat cow despite only weighing 120 pounds and the fact you can see my ribs and I can wrap my index finger and my thumb around my opposite wrist.

This society and it's obsession with sex and it's judgmental adherence to a particular standard DISGUSTS me. And the internet is the WORST about it.

Kournikova was no Sharapova on the court, but off the court she was everybody's favorite date.

Just saw the pictures. This is a load of horseshit. If she's 'fat' then 99% of Americans are at Death's 'obese' door.
