Nine kids. And no one knew a thing...

I don't understand how it would be against anyone's civil liberties to have ALL children -who are capable- from daycare age to high school be asked
"Do you eat every day?"
"Do you have a place to go to bathroom that has running water?"
"Is anyone hurting you?"

I'm against the nanny state as much as most paranoid people are, but as the economy sinks this is just gonna get worse. We gotta start SOMEWHERE!

We'll debate guns and political parties all damn day but making sure kids get fed and stuff just isn't as sexy I suppose...

Get worse ? You must be trippin', man. Everyone knows the economy is FIRE! DOW JONES closed the year at an all time high. Recovery Summer is just 'round the corner. O-Care now the law of the land... we livin' in the land of milk and honey!

Fathom the hypocrisy of a government that requires every citizen to prove they are insured... but not everyone must prove they are a citizen

I'm just a red pill guy in a room full of blue pill addicts.

I agree, Wish. But remember, as one guy said recently, we don't have people walking around with distended bellies, so nobody's REALLY starving...

How do you propose we start, with a Congress which has voted to kill the ACA 37 times, but NOT ONCE for a jobs bill, and which has voted to end extended unemployment, which will kill more jobs ("The Congressional Budget Office estimates that because these benefits are injected directly into our economy, a failure to extend long-term unemployment benefits will mean the loss of 200,000 jobs") and, and, and...?

Thank you, both of you, for reminding me that plague really IS the best governing choice we can make.

I believe in solving problems, not sharing them.

Well, many schools have low-cost and no-cost bfast and lunch programs. There is WIC and food stamps. There are food banks. This is a problem with the parents, and then with the most immediate neighbors who see and know "nothing" because (1) everyone has a right to privacy and (2) children are more-or-less property because (3) the rights of the parents are paramount.

If we're allowing daily mail as an acceptable news source, I have a story that trumps all of them.

Just remember, grain of salt. I've been unable to verify that this actually happened. Also, the story attributes a lot of problems to incest which are probably more likely a result of neglect.

We did that one already. Yer slippin'. I will excuse it this one time because the cold is seeping into brainz here too

I dunno why everyone picks on daily mail...They get their stuff from everywhere else, I mean isn't it a Brit run site? I doubt they have people in the US investigating so they must have submissions or people that scan all the other news in the US. I mean pick on the media by all means, but it gets breaking US news before everyone else HERE does, and it doesn't fluff the horrible just for the people who refuse to see the truth, and I respect that. I ain't saying they always print truth, but they don't pull punches either.

I have no problem with Daily Mail, tho' I check other links when I see a story from them, just to be sure, because they can get kinda hinky. They can be good and bad, but what you said is definitely true, and I often find stories there which the "mainstream media" here doesn't touch, but which I can authenticate after finding on Daily Mail.

Leads me to the question of "Why, in the land of "freedom of speech" are we getting OUR news from a damn British site???"

There's something happenin here, and what it is ain't 'zactly clear o.O

"There's something happenin here, and what it is ain't 'zactly clear."

I'm surprised, actually, Wish. You're just coming up against the fact that the Good Old U.S. of A. has it's own forms of propaganda and censorship? ...or maybe you just weren't fully convinced before...?
