We're always so busy in the RWED bitching about how everything sucks.

I thought it might be a nice change to reflect on what we're thankful for in our lives and take a moment to appreciate how undesirable life could be if we had to deal with our own issues without them in our lives.

I thankful for having a job that makes ends meet. I'm thankful that I never go to bed hungry or freezing.

I'm thankful for the fact my parents and step-parents and my grandmothers are alive and after all the BS we've all made it to a point where we are a part of each others' lives, and the very most antagonistic can survive several hours in the same large room as to not rip each other apart (figuratively and/or literally) at my brother's wedding reception.

I'm thankful that my dad was able to get my brother the support his unique malady required when it seemed that nobody could. I'm thankful that my brother recognizes he's above the help and I hope he makes the right choices in proving everyone wrong.

I'm thankful that my dad raised two great kids in his second marriage and they're both on their way to very bright futures.

I'm thankful for my dad.

haha... cute.

Cynicism doesn't become you Chris. You're like a superhero to some in these forums.

I know you want to say what you're thankful for.

Don't worry. It's not an admission that you believe in a higher power.

Blame it on Karma or just dumb luck. :)

Gratitude is like humility for people who only want to pretend to be humble. The people who have it the worst are pissed off, not grateful. I choose to take the same attitude for solidarity with my peeps whose lives are complete horseshit, despite having nothing particular to complain about myself.

It makes me a really awful person who no one wants to be around, but to hell with all of it. Dead people who weren't really so great in life but everyone idolizes them at the funeral? People who fight for my country and kill civilians and die when I never asked them to? People who temporarily make me wish I wasn't dead? It all seems phony to me. So why pretend otherwise?

I'm an ungrateful horrible bitch, and if anyone thinks they have anything on me because they did me a favour - hahahaha no. I bow to no authority and no social expectations.

Gettin' old, but still a hippie at heart...

"Gratitude is like humility for people who only want to pretend to be humble." Bullshit. You're entitled to your opinion, but that's all it is.

I'm extremely grateful for my life, and I'm well aware that I didn't do a whole lot to deserve it, except to show up. I didn't choose a career path, but ended up falling into some good jobs, and I didn't choose my mate sensibly, I fell in love with the wrong guy (who, twenty years later, turned out to be a really right guy). I didn't make good choices, but I tried some things that ended up working out really wonderfully. There's nothing "humble" about it, just reality, and to not be grateful would be sheer stupidity.

I feel you Byte, but I'm not talking about the "on bended knee" type of gratitude.

I'm talking about the things that people like me who are too lazy to look for new sources of things to be grateful for are grateful for......

I'm grateful that my family still picks up the phone 80% or more of the time when I call them. I don't dump on them and everything is always bordering copacetic when we talk, but there are a ton of family "functions" that I'm invited to like funerals and weddings that I never show up to. Given that, they still invite me over for more, they usually answer the phone when I call, and two of them are going to give me my very first niece or nephew to spoil rotten in 2 or 3 months!

(On top of that, who's the guy who goes home with most of the left overs???? This guy!!!)

I'm grateful that they choose to include me in their lives even if I've willingly been absent in important events in their own lives.

I'm going to make the best F-king uncle there ever was!
