Having a true "sockpuppet" would be easier than making an online one... forget about any inkling that Jack and Jongs might be the same person. There's absolutely zero chance that I'd spend that much time here posting and linking to dozens of threads.

This wasn't a partisan pat on the back. I would have said the same to any other democrat out there who put in that sick amount of effort. Hell, I would have given top honors to PN if it was him.

I don't really find it a good thing to have any one person dominate the RWED via thread number.

I suppose with Niki it's a question as to whether she was posting because she thinks the board is dying. Goodness knows I'm too lazy to post any threads or look for stuff, and the same is true for others.

But, ultimately, I think Niki probably has become kind of a rallying point for the left-wing posters on this site. And you guys on the right-wing resent that.

I'm trying to come up with some solutions that might reduce the tension here. I recommend that other people do the same. Then post the ideas or self-implement.

Maybe, maybe not. I can think of four other plausible explanations, and I'm sure others can come up with a lot more:
1) she's not working and is in too much pain to get out and about, so she connects to the outside world through the internet
2) she's off meds and is extra-busy with the things she does (though I don't think I've seen a significant uptick since then)
3) she figures it's going to be either her or PN, so it might as well be her
4) she finds these things interesting and wants to share points of discussion wherever she can find them

It's not always a simple matter of laziness. I send out emails about different scientific stuff I read - things I find in R&D Magazine, Laboratory Equipment, BioScience Technology, Computer News, The Scientist etc. (I've posted a few of them here, but got no response, so I stopped. (Audience interest/ tolerance is one factor.) It's just whatever randomly interests me, unless I know someone would have a particular interest in a topic. I also get emails from others of the same nature. As both a sender and recipient, what I've found personally is that 1 or 2 a week is about right for recipients. More than that and it's an imposition on their time if you expect them to read it. However, if you're crystal clear that reading is optional and deleting without reading is OK, you can go higher than that.
So there's a number I'm comfortable with, which changes with the circumstances.
But I recognize my number isn’t the same as others'. So this thing about 'how many emails can a woodchuck chuck' is variable from person to person and situation to situation, and you can't always assign it to laziness.

Not for me. Time's too short for me to spend all that much time with other people's interests.

Wow, Kiki, maybe you ARE my sockpuppet! ;o) My unconscious one or something... 1 through 4, you nailed it! The difference in volume from day to day is whether I have something else I need to do and how many articles I find that I think is interesting. Otherwise, that's it in a nutshell.

I do specifically look for stuff from Britain, Canada, Australia, and another country we have a poster from (who hasn't mentioned their country on the board, so I won't) occasionally when I run out of stories from the US or when it occurs to me, but I don't think I'm any kind of rallying point; Mike and Mark do that much better than I do, as far as I can see.

I don't care WHO puts up posts, only what they ARE, and I kinda figure everyone else is the same.

I'm up at the unholy hour of 3:30 AM to take Jim to the airport to go visit his son, so I popped in while getting ready and saw this. Thank you; saved me the trouble and did it better than I could.
